GF is getting into photography, hopefully this one turns out okay.

I two shallots currently, a Rainbow and a ZDP CB. They've been terrific EDC knives. I gave this one to my GF and she's been using it all of the time while working outdoors. The serrations have gotten tons of use, especially with fibrous materials.

It's most definitely a "user" :D

Tell us about your EDC'd shallot(s)!

The Shallot really is a great EDC. It has good ergos, good steel, good blade length, is nice and thin, and doesn't rip up your pockets. I got the standard version for under $25 shipped off ebay, but even at the regular prices I think it's one of the best values out there.

The Shallot is a good EDC. I have a couple CB models and I have an S110V model. I sometimes carry the CB model and have always been happy with it. I'm a big fan of ZDP-189. I have yet to carry and use the S110V model, but that's only because I really like the CB one.

Those S110V blades are great K&G. Looks like you've been putting it to good use.
I found some of his brothers.

I didn't really like how slippery the handles felt on mine, as it makes me paranoid I could drop it on my foot at any given time. Plus, I feel the heat treat is a bit soft on the 110V models. Was considering sending mine to get rehardened, but couldn't be bothered if the ergos didn't suit me. Now if I could get someone to custom-make me some grippy carbon fiber handles it might be a different story:thumbup:.

I heard that they did have problems with their s110v heat treat... Hopefully they try again with that steel; I'd like to try it out with Kershaw's typical hard heat treat.

sure glad to see this forum, here is a photo of my shallot blade, can you tell what type steel it is? also, in the second photo I have shown the liner lock at full lock on my knife, yet as you can see, the liner only moves over about halfway, and so looks "partially" engaged. does that mean I should send mine back to Kershaw for a refit?

Most likely 13C26

The lock looks perfect. Enjoy your knife, and try not to let threads like these make you paranoid. :)
