Kershaw Shallot

I have both, and prefer the S110V Shallot.
However, the handle design just doesn't do it for me. With large hands it feels like it should be thicker. Having scales slapped on like J_Curd did is definitely a good idea. I may just have to do that.

If you have small/medium size hands the knife should feel great.

I have fairly large hands and wear an XL glove. But handle size and feel is personal, and the shape of the hand has something to do with it, too -- broad and thick versus thin and narrow, could both be just as "long".

If you do feel the grip isn't there because the knife is thin, try a small overlay of skateboard tape.

Seriously, who would ever do that... :D

The only thing I see that is too thin about the ZDP Shallot is the handle. I like the blade and think it works great. The problem is that the handle thinner then the other Shallots because the blade is thinner. I'm not saying it's unusably thin. It's just thinner then I would want for a all-day-hard-use folder. On the other hand it practically disappears in your pocket. I've been kicking around the idea of making some linerless carbon fiber scales to go on the non-locking side to beef up the thickness and reduce weight a bit. If for no other reason then I like tinkering with things. :D

I swapped both the 110V and ZDP Shallot blades with the CKT handles. I like the look of the black handle, and the CKT has mat finished DLC coating, which to me gives the knife a little more grip. IIRC, the handle thickness between the ZDP, 110V, CKT and the standard were the same thickness. I had to use all the screws and internal parts from the ZDP in doing the swap because of the difference in blade thickness.

The 110V and ZDP Shallots are two of my favorites and wind up in my pocket frequently. The CKT handled 110V is in my pocket as I type this.

Besides, I don't think the Shallot was designed as a hard-use folder.

And as Esav said, the G-10 S30V Leek is a great knife too.
