I know I'm gonna take some flak for this but i just can't get into the kershaw skyline i have one and its nice but the looks just dont do it for yeah its smooth as butter but ehhh. is the only reason some ppl swear by this knife is cause its a decent and cheap

I'd call it a step up from decent IMO and it is cheap. Light weight with a deceptively big blade in such a small package. Comes in a variety of flavors too. My only complaint is the clip positioning. While set at tip up, there is too much handle sticking out for me. Some people have made clips that negate that though.

Every knife is not for everyone that's why there is such a variety on the market. Some folks don't care for the famed PM2. Others don't care for the Sebenza. We all have different tastes. No need to buy a knife you don't like the looks of just because it's popular.

On the looks, we disagree. Here's my pretty one.

it doesn't really have anything wrong with it for being such a cheap knife, and when QC around that price is so bad, it stands out for being great.

And made in the USA. One of the best knives for the money. Please let me know what, for the same money, is better?

I just received my first one yesterday from House of Blades.

It looks pretty good to me.

Honestly, if you don't like it, who cares? Not to be rude, but nobody is forcing you to like it. Many people are always talking about how great SAK's are, but I'd still rather carry a leatherman.

It's just personal preference dude. If you tried to buy every knife people suggested, you'd be making a lot of threads about knives you don't like.

The only reason you don't like it is because of the looks.

If you don't like the way it looks, then why buy one. It clearly functions perfectly as you said but if that's not enough for you to get over the looks, you should have just never bought one.

Much appreciated. It was a gift from my brother. Don't carry it often but I wont part with it.

Yours looks stunning sir! Mirror polish and is that kirinite? Makes a production knife truly unique.

I agree with you, I have owned two Skylines, one standard and one Damascus, and ended up selling them both. Same with the Leek. I just don't dig some knives.

Even though the new carbon fiber skyline looks intriguing, if I buy it I may end up just selling it again later!

Funzy, what kind of knives are you into? If you generally like "beefy" folders, or something with more heft, it would stand to reason the Skyline wouldn't do it for you.

It's also not what anyone would call a "badass" knife. It's just a fantastic cutting tool for a pretty good price.
Keep in mind, 5 or 6 years ago, this was a $20 knife and the rest of the industry didn't have a lot that rivaled it at the time.
Since the Skyline was such a hit, a lot of companies come out with their own lightweight EDCs.

It like if you said "I dunno guys, I just don't really like the band TOOL"
Ok, that's fine. But regardless of your opinion, you should at least recognize that they are a highly influential band and have helped shape the genre and the industry as a whole ever since they hit the scene.

Well thats hard to say cause im all over the board. I keeping going back to a couple knives Kershaw Cryo, Spyderco Endura, Kershaw blur, and Benchmade Griptilian. So i guess u can say i like my knives with some curves. yeah i know the skyline works and preforms fine i just like my knives to look good

Small, lightweight, well made in the USA, affordable. It's got quite a few things going for it. I find it functional, while it certainly doesn't have a "wow" factor in my eyes, I'm glad I bought mine.

To each their own:thumbup:. There will be some you like and others that you don't, no matter what the general consensus is. I have really loved the skylines that I have had (standard 3x, black/tan, orange, red/stonewash, BFC blue/S30V 2x, damascus 2x). Now I am just down the 1 standard black g10 model but I sure do enjoy using it! Made in USA by a company with top notch CS and warranty, lightweight quality materials for an outstanding price, the steel is easy to sharpen and can get work done, plus it makes a great flipper!

I got a standard Skyline, and I definitely wasn't impressed. After some flipping, it got smoother, but it had an off-center blade that rubbed when it was loose enough to flip well, and centered when it was too tight to flip. I also hate bead blast. I ended up modding it to destruction, which was a great learning experience for me with G10. I got it for dirt cheap, so I didn't cry over it. I'm planning on getting a blackwash model, and I'll hope I get a well centered one this time. It'd probably be a great light, thin carry knife like everyone says it is.

I bought one at Walmart back when that was a thing. It was a mess of terrible lock up and blade play. Returned it before I even left the parking lot. That was the end of my interest in the Skyline.

Premium skylines (s30v and carbon fiber) is around 110$.... S110v manix is also about 110$. So there you go, for the money I found something better.
