Kershaw Skyline bleh

I processed a wild turkey, blood got on my hands, frn was a savior. I'll take spyderco's frn over cf any day. Even fishing, wet hands, even work, dirty/ greasy hands frn will.shine over cf. Just cause the material cost more doesn't make it nicer. Oh and the lock on the manix is more favorable, right and lefty friendly. so the steel and lock are better lol.

I'm glad FRN works well for you. I can't stand it. Feels cheap. Again, if I was processing a wild turkey it wouldn't be with a pocket folder. I prefer a fixed blade for that task. Considering the skyline is an EDC blade, I'd much rather have carbon fiber than frn. Heck, I'd rather have aluminum and g10 over frn for and EDC blade. The lock is good on the Manix 2, but you're comparing apples to oranges here. The manix 2 lw and Skyline are very different knives.

A better comparison for this price range would the Spyderco Sage 1. Same steel, similar in size, same type of lock and materials used. Difference being the skyline is made in the USA.

yeah, but with the Sage you get peel-ply "carbon fiber", at least the Skyline gets you the real deal.

I am sorry for this but carbon fiber on a Skyline is like gold plating a turd... I am sure for 20-30 bucks it's an amazing deal and terrific value but I don't get trying to make it something it's not...

Could be that for months many people here have voiced their desire for a high-end Skyline in premium materials and that Kershaw is simply trying to meet the demand. I'm willing to bet that if this is a limited run they will be gone in short order.

Yeah, people collect the different Skylines so I am willing to bet the same thing.

I can see why people like them but I was not impressed with mine. . It had lots of blade play even with a tightened pivot and it was not smooth. Maybe mine was from a bad batch but I wasn't impressed.

My Skylines don't get carried much because I have others that I'm more partial to. However, I have several in different configurations.

For an EDC knife it's one of the better ones out there . The only sub $75 knife that is better IMO is the mini grip . The spear point tip is AWSOME blade length is great and weight is superb . I do like the skyline and it's one of my favorite . People pay $180 for an Emerson cqc 7a with a 154 steel G10 with full liner heavy as an hammer so to me if when the skyline CF come out its a no brainier I will try to be first on the line .

The cheapest mini grip is now $89 unless you can find one below MAP. I liked the Grip before the huge price hikes of the last 5 years. My first mini grip was about $50 shipped, which I thought was high when the Walmart Native was $39.

The newer s30v Skylines fix two of the problems I have with the stock one. I hate bead blasting and the hollow grind. I will be getting the CF Skyline as soon as they are shipping.

I completely agree with you on the bead blasting. Stonewash looks better (IMO) and resists corrosion better. What don't you like about hollow grinds? The thing is a completely bananas slicer with the hollow grind it has.
