Folks I'm looking to get another thin and slim modern for edc.

I'm looking at the carbon fiber Skyline in s30v and urban trapper maybe g10.

Do you have folks have experience with both and can discuss the pros and cons?

Are there other locking modern alternatives in this category worth looking at?

Hey!

So the Skyline I have no experience with, but it's a good-looking design and Kershaw has a great rep as a manufacturer in general, plus I have only ever read positive feedback on that knife.

The Urban Trapper looks gorgeous, from my homework on them it seems like one or two versions have slightly better fit and feel.

I think it was the scaled versions, especially the cocobolo, that are 'liner' locks by virtue of their scales, though they're essentially the regular titanium framelock model with scales. If you read forum reviews you'll figure out which is for you, but again this knife looks to be an EDC winner.

My answer is a Benchmade 531 Pardue, it's outrageous.

Two ounces flat, G-10, Benchmade-treated 154CM, drop point with an attractive symmetry rather than a spear point, great detent, ultra thin.

Cheap for a BM Axis knife too.

The Benchmade 531 is an excellent knife. Two others to consider in that size range are the ZT 0450 and the Kizer Tomcat Splinter.

The benchies are great and the mini presidio ultra is my favorite out of the 707 and 531. I'm looking for more of a Gent's folder for just everyday use that isn't too low budget or too expensive either. I had eyeballing the mcusta small Tsuchi as well, but I'm unsure if I like it more as a knife or a piece of knife art.

I used to EDC several Skylines, including an S30VCF. It's nice but at $100 it's not *that* nice, certainly not as a gentleman's folder.

So I'd go with the Urban Trapper in CF.

A Spyderco Caly 3" ZDP-189 CF would certainly qualify as a slim gent's knife.

I like the ZT's alot, I just know that for my purposes I'll never carry it. I like the Caly a lot but I've had many different iterations, including several UKPK's (they're almost identical) already and want to try something different.

In doing searches I see that a mini kwaiken is coming out too. So many choices!

BM940 is a really great EDC. Slim with a large (for its size) blade.
940-1, with a deep carry clip is perfection.
