Good day,

I am new to the forum and tried to search the follow issue but found nothing exactly like my situation. I apologize if this has been covered already. I purchased a Kershaw skyline on amazon from a seller on there and I just wanted to make sure it is a real skyline. I am not sure anyone would bother to make a fake but I just wanted to run this by you guys since my skyline does not look like any other I have seen online. I will post pictures soon. The writing on the blade looks incomplete compared to other skylines I have seen (i.e. it only says "1760 Made in USA" on the right side whereas others will say things like "patented", have a born on date and list the type of blade). Also the pocket clip came black which I have never seen on the basic color scheme skyline model. I have only seen it come in a silver satin finish. Lastly, the clip rubbed off some paint on my shorts in five minutes of wearing it. I have a Kershaw Cryo that has a black clip and it has never rubbed off on my pants. Your thoughts?

WELCOME!

I know of no Skylines that have "born on date". Some basic 1760's have "Patented", some do not. Some basic 1760's list steel type, some do not. Also, the positions of these labels on the blade can be different.

Few Skylines came with black clips and those were special models like the 1760CKTOR and 1760BRCKT.

The fact that the paint came off is highly suspicious. What does the metal look like underneath?

Did the box look new and the materials inside look 'crisp'? If not, could be a customer-return.

welcome to the forum dude :D and it will be appreciated if you provide some picture :D
