Kershaw skyline or leek?

How well does the cryo ride in the pocket? I checked it out and like the looks of it but it seems chunky compared to the others

I haven't had much luck with the chinese 8cr13 steel either. Great looking knife tho. Looks fairly ergonomic also. I'm definitely gonna order something tonight if work will slow down for a few minutes.

This is interesting to me. Today I got to go to kershaw's factory and handle both, and I was very suprised by how small the skyline is. When I tried to flip them, I was pleased, but the lock was difficult, maybe because I have larger thumbs.

IMO I would get the Leek, simply because it's a little larger and fits better in my hand

From the youtube vids and pics online it looks like the skyline is bigger to me but I haven't handled either and our walmart only carries one american made kershaw and I own it. The sporting goods stores in my town are crap and the salesmen wouldn't know a good knife if you threw it at em. I may just order the skyline tonight and get the leek next time. There's only about 100 different variations it so I'm sure I'll end up with several if I like it.

Not sure why, but I never warmed up to the Leek. The Skyline just fit me better. When I need a super light carry, the skyline still gets some pocket time. I included a pic for size comparison.

Thanks for the pic. They really are about the same size. I know the leek has to be a good knife. The blade shape and the slick handle is what makes me favor the skyline. Plus I like the ultra thin and light design of the skyline. I'll order it on my lunch break. If it ends up being too lightweight for my needs I'll get something more sturdy next time

I just got my Premium Skyline today. Its nice. To my surprise, the leek is about 1/8th of an inch thinner, but heavier. The ergos on the skyline are superb! I know now why everyone loves it so much. The action was not as smooth as I thought it would be so I took it apart and polished the washers and the pivot with 2000 grit wet or dry laper, added a dab of CRK flourinated grease and reassembled. It is about as fast and as smooth as it gets without a bearing system.

i just bought the skyline. Im not sure if this happens to everyone but the flipper wont flip the knife without a lot of wrist action. also i cant take the screws out to switch the pocket clip from tip down to tip up. other than that i like the knife. the g10 is very grippy and the knife comes very sharp. i have handled a leek and am not to fond of it. i dont like the spring assist and the knife is so small it is hard to get your hands out of the way to flip the blade out. i also have big hands.

I have, carry, and like both of these a lot. The Composite Blade Leek has gotten more cycles in my EDC rotation, mainly because it really disappears in pocket.

I saw the kershaw shallot on sale for $40, just can't remember where. Cool knife, wicked profile

I have had a few Leeks and my current one has a Damascus blade. My problem with the Leek, lies in the fact it can, and has, partially opened while I am carrying it, especially if I carry tip up or in a back pocket. I feel the need to keep the "safety button" on while carrying which made it a pain to open quickly.

It now resides in my range bag as a backup.

I own a bunch of different Leeks and a Skyline and both are great knives for the price. If you are looking for a general purpose knife that's gonna see a lot of use then I would go with the Skyline. It's lighter, stronger, and IMO the blade shape is more useful for most cutting tasks. The thunk I like most about the Leek is that they are fun to collect and there's probably about 100 different versions. You start off buying the regular Leek and the next thing you know you have a dozen of them:D

The Leek opening in your pocket is not fun especially since it's so pointy. I had it happen once and it poked a nice hole in my thigh.

Got the skyline today. Pretty sweet! It feels wimpy compared to the blur I've been carrying. I put it in my pocket and can't even tell it's there even when bending and squating. This is the first g-10 scales I've ever had and I love them. The knife honestly feels cheap to me but if it's anything like the other US made Kershaws I've had then it'll be just fine. Super sharp out of the box to. Overall I'm happy. Time will tell if it's sturdy enough for edc.
