Hey folks,

Been a while since I played with a Kershaw so I got out my Skyline today and man do I love it. I really never "got" this knife when it first came out but I love it now. Great medium sized knife. I finally got the flipping down so that I can open it completely with just the flipper and not a wrist flick. I decided I liked it better without the clip and then I sanded the G10 down smooth. I removed the scales from the knife and started out with 150 grit and went all the way to 1000 grit. To finish it I used #000 steel wool. I then washed off the scales, rubbed some WD-40 on them and then polished 'em up, and then put the knife back together. A nice drop-in-the-pocket knife that is smoooooth.

Thanks for lookin. :)

Great job! I bet that thing is smooth as silk in and out of the pocket now. Dang, I have all that sandpaper in the shop too...hmmmm?...

Kershaw should take a cue and add this to the Skyline line!

Imagine how many people would lose that knife and complain that there was no grip to the G10? Some knives need grippiness, this is one because of t's size. Smoothness = lost knife

David,

Please let us know when you have lost your Skyline!

I think it looks freakin sweet but do agree about the grip. Looks like it would be slicker than a duck turd. But it is his knife so if he likes it that's all that matters.

I guess if the smoothness will make me lose it then I better stop carrying all of my old slip-joints, anything made with stainless handles, or micarta or titanium too then. I might lose them all

Well you know how people are - complain about no traction on the handle then complain that there is too much. What do you expect.

RevDevil,

True. I love knives with "no traction" and I love knives that are super grippy. All good!

That looks sick!

Smoothness does not necessarily equal lost knife. Smoothness + weak girly grip = lost knife. If you grip the knife like a man, there shouldn't be any problems :)

Well, I don't consider the skyline as a heavy duty knife. So for me, I wouldn't need a super grip. I think it looks pretty cool. :D

BTW, while no one likes losing any knife, at least if you lose a skyline, you don't break the bank getting a new one..

Dude that is way cool! I think it is very appropriate when carried sans clip. Really dresses it up for more of a gentlemans knife type look.

I think we should start a thread here for all the mods and tinkerings people have done to the Skyline, this knife is the perfect canvas for it! I am thinking of going to Wally World to buy another one just to play around with some different ideas I have, since I like how I have my first one now.

Great mod!

Looks nice! I would like to sand some of it down, not so much as you, but that thing is hard to clip in and out of pocket sometimes. Great job, looks very gentlemanly!

Kershaw has had polished G-10 scales on knives off and on for years. There are more than a few people that like collecting them.
I can think of a few people with a bunch of Random Tasks. :D
