Kershaw Skyline

i got the orange skyline today...nice stuff.
it is a blem model so it has the XXX on the blade.....

nice bright color though.

got it from kershawguy on this forum.

Thanks for this post. I have been thinking about a Skyline for awhile and just went and bought one from Kershawguy. Now I have my 2nd Kershaw coming. Whoop.

I really enjoy my Skyline too but agree that the metal rusts way too easily and it could use a tip-up low rider pocket clip.

The Skyline, for sure, is a mighty fine knife. Kershaw really hit one out of the park with the 1760.

So I got my skyline from Kershawguy and I could not be happier. It was a little rough opening at first but it already feels like it may be loosening up. Have you ever bought a knife and felt like you could kick yourself for waiting that long? That's how I feel with this one. Not an expensive knife, doesn't have bells, whistles, glass breakers or left hand carry on the clip but what a great little blade. Nice thin and sharp, light in the hand and just well made.

Kershaw if you're listening, I know you have made other colors/blades/etc but keep it up. They will sell. Picturing a toxic green handle and black blade combo.

I know everyone loves this knife but when I got mine, I was not a big fan. I guess I got spoiled with the speed safe knives?
I gave it to a very close friend and to say he loves that knife is an understatement.

NICE!!! have heard nothing but good about the skyline, was going to buy one for the wife to carry lololol (edc) in her purse (she has a scallion now) but the upgrade now makes me think that mebbe I should get 2 =)

I didn't want to start another Skyline thread on the first page since there are already two so I thought I would ask my question here. I am new to Kershaw, just bought my first two weeks ago. I started with the blur and the skyline. Have since added a leek and got my wife a chive and leek. One of the stickys has a pretty comprehensive list of the leeks that have been produced and I was wondering if we could get one for the skyline as well. I was also wondering, when was the Skyline introduced.

(If anyone is wondering why I am asking, well Leek_Freak may have inspired me, see if I could get the whole set of Skylines.)

From google and ebay I have discovered:
1760RDSO - Red (snap-on)
1760RD - Red
1760 - Black
1760BRNCKT - Tan
1760DAM - Damascus
1760OR - Orange
Digi-cam (prototype)

How many have I missed?

After searching some more I found a few helpful links. I believe I covered them all.
Now I just need that DAM Skyline
Skyline Varieties
Kershaw Skyline model?

For prosperity sake, also going to list the two fixed blade models:
1084 - Black
1084OR - Orange

I am a little confused on that. Is there a tan and brown model, with two different model #s?

The 1760BRNCKT is the tan G10 scales with black DLC blade. If you saw a tan G10 with silver blade it was likely a blade swap.

Good job covering the models five. Nice links as well!

Very nice knife and available at your local Wally World 24/7. This was my third Kershaw after an EnerG2 and Leek D2. Lighter than the G2 and sturdier feeling than the Leek. I didnt think I'd like the finger detent in the grip, but it seems to naturally put the blade in a tip forward/downward mode. With my index finger in the detent, any anxiety I had about the small liner lock is alievieted because I know that index finger is keeping it locked as well. Exceptional knife, not just "for the money", for EDC, work, slicing and cutting. Gotta love a hollow grind and G-10 scales!!!

I thought the same thing about the finger indent but once I got it in my hand it felt right. Even in a reverse grip it feels just about perfect. Still not loosening up like I want it though. Put some SD-40 on it and that made it worse. Tried to adjust the pivot but then got side play. Guess I'll just keep flipping it until it gets the right action on it. Maybe I am expecting too much. I am comparing it to the opening of the RAM.

Thanks, your post included pics so it was easy. Did you ever get your DAM model? One went on the bay recently, before I got into the craze.

In fact, I just got it in the mail!!! jimw451 hooked me up! It was right nice of him. I'll be sure to update my pics. :)

funny i was actually flipping my skyline open and closed while i was reading this. yes it does feel like a finely tuned instrument. I dont even have to move my rist at all to open it, i just use the flipper, and yet no blade play. the blade is absolutely hair poping sharp even after cutting a few boxes up. Its a perfect work knife.

Was it on the exchange? I am on the hunt now!

A couple have hit the exchange from time to time, but I was never able to get one there. jimw451 contacted me off my last thread. He had recently come into two!?! I hear that they will make more, but I don't know if that is a rumor or not. I wish you luck :)
