Kershaw "Speed Safe" Defects...

Get over it and be a man. Email Kershaw Customer Service. They will send you a new torsion spring. It takes about 3 minutes to replace. Move on to more pressing problems.

i like the kershaw line, but all i have from them now is the jyd 1 (non-AO with flipper)....if your that worried about a spring breaking at a critical time a buck rush has dual spring assisted opener and will open with only one spring.....i have had one for about 3 years and used to edc, when i took it apart and reassembled(not getting one of the srings hooked right of course) it still opened just not as fiercely.....check it out

anyone ever replace the torsion bar as sort of a preventative measure. Also is the blur torsion bar and leek torsion bar the same?

First question: No. Second question: I don't know...never had a Leek apart, but the relative size of the two knives would lead me to believe that they're not the same size.

I broke the end of the blade off my speed safe kershaws and sent it back. I told them I would pay to get a new blade put on my knife. I got the knife back in less then two week no charge. They are great people to work with.

I have a Chive from 2001 that still works great after thousands of openings. I assume the torsion bar will break only because people say it will. If it was me and my carry knifes most important role was self defense, I wouldn't be using it to open boxes and mail and I wouldn't be cycling it open and closed all day long. That's just me. I'd keep the Emerson on my dominant side and the Kershaw on the other for EDC activities and flipping.
