Hi, I'm new to the forum, so anyone can tell me if I'm out of line or whatever.
I found out today that KnifeCenter of the internet now has the Kershaw Mini-Task lefty in stock and ready to ship. I've been waiting for a year and a half to get my own speed safe, but being a lefty I could not...until now.
However, it seems from reading various posts, that many members have had problems with the Task series. I'm wondering if the problems were real or if people's expectations were just too high.
Mr. Onion, if you have any input regarding the quality of the new lefties I'd really appreciate it.
Does anyone have thoughts on if I should hesitate to buy one. Should I wait for the new Boa's...does anyone know if they'll be ambidextrous?

Thanks for the input,
Mitch

I really believe that the reputation the Random Task has for being a bad opener is undeserved. I`ve handled many Kershaw/Onion knives, and only a very few have had opening problems. There were also alot of people who just didn`t like the torsion bar opener; personally I love it.

Of all the Kershaw/Onion knives I`ve handled, the only ones that had an opening problem were the Random Tasks. I`ve never seen a bad Mini Task, and every Whirlwind and Blackout I`ve handled snapped open like Microtech. (Could this be due to the heavier blade?)

I would have no lack of confidence in buying a left handed Mini Task. I think these are the some of the best made, innovative knives out there. And if you should get a poor opener, Kershaw is very good about making things right.

Question for Ken: Is Kershaw going to make Boa`s?

I had a Random Task and Ricochet...love that CPM440V steel but hate the fact that the ramp to get them started opening is so steep that they are too hard to get started...sold them both. Handled a new black out version and they have cured the problem...liked it a lot but unfortunately it doesn't have the CPM440V steel. How about it Ken, when is the Random Task going to be as easy to open as the Blackout? Don't know about the minis.
