I'm confused by this knife. In the few pics I can find, it looks like a fixed-blade Leek with quince or aluminum handles. But it says "with removable pocket clip," which makes it sound like a folder. Kershaw doesn't seem to have the knife on their site. Can anyone provide info on this knife? Tx - FF

I guess no one knows. I never heard of it, did a search, came up with a couple of references, but no pictures, so you're one up on me.

yeah, but see how the blade seems to run straight into the handle, like a tang? there are no liners visible, nor any lock, nor is lock-type mentioned on any site. Confusing. I hope it IS a folder, it looks great!

I think it's an optical illusion, abetted by the small picture. Just as the handle slabs are shrunken away at the butt, where they are pierced by three holes, so too are they shrunken away from the area under the thumb grooves, also pierced by three holes. That's handle, not tang. Now the ricasso, below the thumb studs, is part of the blade.

Geez I wish that kershaw would help us out on this!!
I seen the ad in blade also, and have been looking for info ever since. I really like the looks. I have read that it is a ken onion design and contrary to a post here, I believe the blade material is Aus8. I can't find anymore info though. I am really hoping that they build this good looking model in something like S30V. Or if thats out of the question how bout something like 154CM ? Whatever they choose to do I hope that they do it quick. I don't like to be teased!:grumpy:

That's a nice looking design. I have no problem with Aus6, but for a knife like this I hope it's something better.

It is a gent folder AUS8A one with quince wood overlay and one with annodized aluminum .Non speed safe made in Japan . it's a nice slim gent folder and brand new . Kershaw hasn't done a whole lot of advertising yet because were waiting on delivery by Japan .First batch was only a few thou. Seccond batch will be larger .

Thanks for the info Ken! (gotta love this forum, can't get much more authoritative information than that!)

So, has anyone held/bought/used one of these yet???? So far I can't find one locally to check out in person.

Yes, I've had mine a few weeks (Chinese Quince). Very nice. Quite comfortable in the hand, rock solid liner lock, very "splinter" like blade - wickedly sharp. Great little dress up or office knife. The optical illusion discussed earlier in this thread is the result of the liners which extend beyond the wood handles themselves and which align beautifully with the spine of the blade when opened to provide a nice notched thumb rest. Very cool, although I confess to being an unabashed Kershaw/Onion fan. Never met one I didn't like.

Mine must be a first run, it carries an unusual "error." The clip is tapped for three screws, but only two are used. The third hole is shimmed (it looks like a shim was inserted between the frame and clip to block the third hole) because, at least to my eye, it appears that the screw heads were too large to fit all three on the clip.

By the way, does anyone know whether Quince is an aromatic wood (like cedar). I'm not normally a knife sniffer, but this one has a distinctive (pleasant) aroma.

well, google search shows a lot of sites referring to the fruit as being aromatic. As for knife sniffing, I had to give it up. One day at a time, man. :p

loodie - is the clip set up to ride low in the pocket, or does the knife stick up much past the clip? I can't find a pic of the clip online. Tx-FF

It is set up to ride very low, however, the clip is mirror finished so it is not low profile. Also, if I have one beef about this knife, the clip is tight, too tight, really. I find myself having to draw the knife with my index finger pushing up from the end of the clip.

One more thing, be aware it's tip up carry, and the clip is not reversible. Wish I could post some pics for you, but I'm not that technologically advanced.
