Kershaw Storm I/II and Vapor I/II

I just purchased the storm, and think it's a great knife. I also own the red and black Kershaw Blur. Both storm and blur are great knives, and you would not be disappointed with either. These are sharp, so be careful not to cut yourself like I did.

I have a Vapor I in my EDC rotation!!! Love it, a good beater knife that I don't mind lending friends and family...I don't have to worry about them messing it up, lol...but I still yell when I see them trying to pry something with it, whats wrong with people, a knife is used to cut things, an occasionally stabbing...

I recently purchased a Vapor, which was returned and exchanged for a wood-handled two blade slipjoint. I went into the initial purchase knowing it wasn't what I normally look for in a knife. I just wanted to try something different.

Pro:

-Thin blade for a modern folder
-Flat grind
-Solid lock-up
-Light and thin construction makes for easy pocket carry with or without clip

Con:

-Steel handles cool to the touch in the winter
-Framelock not at easy for me to manipulate as a lockback
-Bad thumbstud design, difficult to open (Had to train myself to open it at a very different angle than all my other one handers)
-Ball detent (Had forgotten these existed in linerlock knives since I never use them)
-Small, thin handle is uncomfortable compared to a Buck 110 or Opinel.
-Out of box edge had different angles on each side of the bevel

I will second the cold handle in thw winter but thats the only down side for me anyway...for the rpice I can't complain about the steel used, at least it is easy to resharpen...but I don't use my knives that much anyway so I don't have to resharpen it all the time, maybe once a month...I am always switching my backup knife so they don't see too much individual use...my BM42 gets most of the action...

I have both the vapor and the storm, and like both. I slightly prefer the storm, but I don't think you could go wrong with either. Buy both.

My Vapor II has a much better feel cutting heavy cardboard compared to, say, an 887 Police advocate - smoother, no sharps on the serrations on the grip, no flats and corners to grip in your palm. The PE doesn't hang up like the CE and finger choil, pulling the cross slots through your grip. That causes hot spots.

And if its that cold - I'm wearing gloves. The 887 almost requires gloves year round, which is kinda what its designed for. . . .

Still, compared to an Opinel, not as good, but the slim profile rides on my pocket most of the time. A clipped 110 or Opinel would be a chunk or require some other carry I grew out of. :D
