Kershaw Tilt

The Tilt is a knife I'd wanted since I'd first seen a photo of it, at least until I handled one. The only true knife-nut I've ever run into at my company owns one and brought it to an event where we both brought a pile of knives to show each other, and the Tilt was the knife he was bringing I most looked forward to. After I handled it, I lost all interest. I liked the bizarre handle shape, it felt fine in hand, but it was a lot larger in the pocket that I'd guessed, even for a knife with that size blade.

It was lucky timing to, as one popped up for sale the next month and I totally would have bought it, only to discover I didn't like it much.

In any case it's a neat, different, eye-catching design, even if it's not for me. I've always wondered why they haven't put out a ZT version of the Tilt nowadays, but then I suppose that would interrupt the flow of the seventy-seven bajillion "limited" edition LOL 0392 knives.

The reason that KAI has not re-released the Tilt is because it makes the hunt for one that much more fun!

Just have to track down a DLC for a decent price.

The Tilt was a first for a number of features, I think it's the only knife to use Vanax 75 and I'm fairly certain they've stopped making that steel, so in all likelihood it will be the ONLY model to ever feature Vanax 75, which may help explain the price when they do pop up. I was just starting to understand knives a bit when it was released, had an opportunity to snag one and didn't, which I have regreted ever since. But I like big wharncliffes and funky designs.

While many may be listed at ridiculous prices, I don't think they're actually selling for that much. The knife world is constantly getting populated with new designers and trends year to year. People eventually lose interest and it becomes harder to justify peak pricing. At the end of the day, it's just one of many discontinued production knives, and it's not one of particular historical significance. While rarity will still keep it priced above original retail, eventually it won't be as much of a markup as it is now.

I like "mini" versions of knives like my Rat Worx..perfect in my hand.
If Kai made a mini of this, I'd buy in a heartbeat.
