well, as most of you probably already know, the Kershaw Tilt has gained alot of attention from its debut at blade show 2010. i cannot wait to get my hands on one. so, I was just wondering how many of you will be placing a pre-order for one or will just be waiting until its released (or aren't intersted at all). also, what are your thoughts on this knife in general? i know there have been a couple threads regarding this knife but i just wanted to see a more "current" response from you guys. so please, don't take up posting space with "this has been covered before".

It has good materials and some neat features but it does absolutely nothing for me. I won't be getting one just because I have no desire to own it because of the shape and size. Plus I'm not real big on wharncliff blades. Maybe if it were smaller I might try it but it was just to big and bulky when I held it.

Everyone has different likes as far as design and this one doesn't push my buttons. The Volt on the other hand was a home run for me.

I will be pre ordering a Tilt when the time comes. I really like the look of the knife and the materials are great. I'm really interested in the KVT washers that Kershaw used on the prototype. The only thing I'm not really liking is the clip. Might have to get a custom clip made for it.

As an FYI, the Vanax 75 is in, a few parts for the Tilt have been cut, and the knife is underway.

Looks very neat, but i doubt that handle can feel very good under heavy use.
Also i don't like framelocks. Or composite blades.
I do like wharncliffes though.

Tommie should be very proud of this one. 2010 American Knife of the Year. :)
Gonna be suhweet!

Thomas, you didn't lose the KVT washers did you? Any change on the clip? Is the milling that spelled out TILT on the inside still there? You think this one will be off the ground and running by the beginning of 2011?

EDIT: OH! Cut, as in the parts are ready to go, not cut like certain parts have been scrapped from the knife. I get it now.

KVT is still a go. Clip will be the last thing we tackle, so final details have yet to be determined.

I think the Tilt will be ready before 2011.

great to hear from you! thanks for the heads up! is the pre-order price (around $230-$250+) going to be the final price or is it too soon to say?...and we should be expecting it most likely in december right?

the materials are great to me but the KVT and new Vanax 75 really sealed the deal. i'm also with you on the clip although i think it does fit into the rest of the design relatively well.

I too think that the clip fits with the rest of the design. I do think if it were to look how it does now with the squared corners and straight edges, but with a smooth radiused top, that would look and probably feel better. Not really fair for me to say though since I wasn't at BLADE and have never handled it. As long as the configuration stays so it can be tip up, then I will be pretty damn happy.

Done within this year is great news! I really thought it would be around this time next year before the Tilt would be available.

just get a needs work and save a heap. but the tilt ,it seems too futuristic? or is that just me.

joey

:confused::confused:

The only similarities between the two knives is the fact that they are both Wharncliffe blades.

Every other detail and aspect of both knives is completely different.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot.

Thomas.... bronze annodized lockside and hardware... You know what I'm talking about. :D

yes the tilt has roller bearings that are probably top notch.however are looks alone not to like a knife acceptable. i mean if you dont like the way it looks , thats ok no?

Absolutely. Why would anyone buy something they don't like?

I didn't say that you had to like the way it looks. All I said was that you can't really compare the Needs Work to something like the Tilt. They're just too different.

i was never a fan of the needs work...it is a fairly well liked knife though. when i saw the tilt, the design just "worked" for me. although from a ergonomics stand point, it does appear somewhat odd. but once i found out more about it (materials, KVT, Vanax 75, actual price, etc.) i couldn't help myself. i've already pre ordered mine. its just a long, cruel waiting game at this point. :D

Alright, someone hit me with a PM on who they got they're pre order from. I'm pretty sure I know who it is, but I'd like to be 100% sure.
