So i work in Portland and on the bus ride home the other day i was sitting behind a guy reading the paper. Over his shoulder i caught part of an add for a Kershaw Warehouse sale......wasn't able to catch any more info on it as he folded up the paper and got off at the next stop.

Just wondering if anyone can fill me in on the sale. When is it? What kind of discounts do they offer? Do you have to get there early to get any of the deals like on Black Friday for electronics?

I don't particularly need any new knives at the moment but if the sales are good enough I figure i'll go and see what they have.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

The sale completely takes over the entire neighborhood for blocks in all directions surrounding Kershaw. It is as if a tide of guys and trucks washed in and stayed for days. It is theater, carnival, the discipline of the queue and very hospitable of Kershaw. Some camp out & some arrive in the dark.

I've never heard a discouraging word mentioned about this event, the goods available and the prices charged.

Have you ever tried to visit Peacock Lane for the Christmas lights? Similar.

Thanks for the links.....they didn't quite state when the sale starts though. Does it start on Friday? If so what time does it start. I gotta work on Friday so i'm just wondering what will be left by the time I get there.

Also can anyone give me an idea of what kinda discounts are offered? 15%, 40%, 60%?

I called Kershaw, and for Saturday I was told they open @ 9 A.M., and you enter through the back. I'm driving down from Vancouver, BC, and I'll be there by 7 to join the lineup :D.

I can't give you an exact amount that you will save , but the savings are huge enough to cause people to wait in lines excitedly talking kershaw all the while. It is an event not to be missed !!!!!! Do not miss it !!!! You must go !!! You will not be disappointed !!!!! Get the idea ????? It starts at 9AM on Friday and if you go later there will still be deals . Have fun, because you are going !!!

LOL....ok you talked me into it. Since it on saturday too then i'll be able to get there early and stand in line.

Just gotta make sure to not let my wife know what's happening. I don't even have that many knives (a benchmade and 2 spydercos) but she thinks i have 2 too many. Time to peruse kershaw's site and figure out what i want....do they take credit cards or do i need cash?

heck maybe i'll work late on friday so i can go friday morning

Yes they take credit cards and tell your wife you are going to get a couple of hot deal Christmas presents, maybe even for her , they have smokin deals on Kitchen knives too !!!

Hi guys,
I'm in Australia so unfortunately I won't be able to make it :(
Any possibility of the savings being passed on to online shoppers?

Man, I sure wish I could go, but with no money and a car that I don't trust over 50 miles from home...:(.

Maybe those of you that are able to go should plan a "meet & greet"?

I wonder if Ken Onion will be handing out signed knives to the first few thru the door tomorrow morning like last year?

Those enthusiasts are probably already in line as I type this. The forcast calls for a low of 26 and a high of 43 f. Maybe someone should shag cocoa for em.

Terrific company, outstanding designers and products to relish adds up to real enthusiasm in this neck of the woods.

I'm going to brave the lines tomorrow morning. Hopefully I can get in before I have to go to work. If any of you forum guys want to say hi I'm approcable. I'm not sure what I'll be wearing it will depend on the weather. I do know I will be wearing a hat through. Not sure if I should wear my Busse Combat hat or my 5.11 tactical. Both are black. The Busse hat will stand out best so maybe I'll wear that one. Just hope I don't get mobbed for wearing it.

As long as you buy a Kershaw hat while you're there (IF they have them for sale), I think you'll be ok.:D.

Dang...I SURE wish I were going.:(.

OK, now you are just teasing us, right? KO wasn't really there was he?

Everyone going to the sale, please find Thomas and thank him in person for all the time he spent here, and all the great things he did!

The same applies to Tim and Tif should you see them. Also let them know we will do what we can to support them in the forum. I think it'll mean more in person than from an anonymous post over the internet.

man with black friday not being that far gone i guess i still have the shopping deals fever....told my boss i wouldn't be in till around 11 just so I can go stand in line waiting for them to open.

hope i come away with some good stuff......been looking through kershaw's lineup and have outlined some stuff that i'll definitely be getting (scallion, blur) and some stuff that I might be getting if the prices are right (junkyard dog II, random leek, mini-mojito)

Not kidding.

This is from the first guy thru the door, who waited with his young son, all night. And, not the first time they've done such.

Where there is such a will then there is a way for the Kershaw family to realize how much they are appreciated. And, little known outside this immediate area, thousands will show their love is such a way over the next few days in a way words can't.

5:00 AM, Friday morning, in the dark and fewer than 50 are queued at the back door of Kershaw. They stand on damp ground, dew setting and possible showers, in the employees parking lot which is full of employee's cars.

My young son, braced against the cold with heavy coat, hat and gloves, has money in his pocket.

I have visions of the ET Urban Camo dancing in my head.

Weather:
Friday, cloudy, high 40 low 30, 20% chance of precip. (probably Fri. is best weather day of sale)
Saturday, rain/snow, high 38 low 35, 70% chance of precip.
Sunday, rain/wind, high 44 low 44, 70% chance of precip.

7:45 AM Friday morning at the Kershaw factory sale, which is taking place inside the factory, and the line is at about 200 folk. The sun is up.

The casually dressed crowd is well behaved and chatting happily with one another.

A kershaw employee came down the line and collected knives to be sharpened. Each dull knife was put into a paper bag with the owner's name and phone number written onto the bag.

There was some police/fire engine/ambulance action down the frontage road but apparently unrelated to the sale. A fender-bender perhaps.

Just got back from the sale.......people weren't kidding when they said that there were good deals to be had. Got there about 7:30 and was pretty far back in line. At a quarter to 9 they started letting people in but they only let a certain amount in at a time so I got halfway to the door and then the line stopped. At this point for any new people to get in you had to wait for people that were already inside to leave.

From there it was another hour and fifteen wait to actually get inside to the shopping area.

Inside they hand you a shopping basket and send you on your way. First thing that jumps out is all the incredible pricing. I really couldn't believe it. After i made my way through all the tables I had like 20 knives in my basket because i couldn't stop from grabbing them when i saw how much they cost.

I then tried to show some restraint and cut it to like 8 knives and went on my way. They had a raffle drawing for a Shun Chef knive (you got a ticket when you walked though the door)......they called the number of the guy that was standing behind me.

Even after putting over half the knives back i realized that this is way to many knives as I was getting in the car so i'll probably pick my two favorite and cruise the WTB forum or ebay the others. Got all sorts of neat stuff like a random leek, speed bump, S30V blur, S30V leek, etc Almost bought a G10 Offset but even on sale it was a bit too much money for me. Looked at some of their ZT stuff and it all looked very cool but just too big for what i like to carry around.

All in all a very cool event.....i'm going to start saving my change now so when next year comes around i can have a knife fund and not feel so guilty about getting so many
