I dropped my Whirlwind at work the other day. As I pulled it from my pocked, the thumb stud caught on the pocket seam. That was enough to make it slip from my grasp. I made things worse by grabbing at it and knocking it a couple of feet ahead of me. It landed flat on the stud side on a hard ceramic floor, bounced a little and snapped open like it was alive. Suprised the you know what out of me. Fortunately my office is out of the way and no body else was around when it happened. The knife was not damaged and I quickly picked it up and put it away. The knife was definitely closed on the way to the floor as I swear the fall took place in slow motion. I am posting this for whatever interest it may be to the other members. I carry the Whirlwind daily and it has never opened accidentally before or since. I apologize if this topic has been addressed before but I read the forums regularly and have not seen it posted.
By the way, I have been reading the forums for a couple of years but just became a member a few days ago. What a relief it was when I stumbled onto Bladeforums to find that there are several thousand people with the same fascination towards blades that I have. I say relief because the rest of the people at my house (my wife) think that my knife interest is a little bit (well a lot actually) sick.
