While flicking my Whirlwind (love that torsion bar) I noticed what looks like lubricant where the tang and liner lock meet. Does the torsion bar require special care, i.e. lubricnt? I've not noticed this with other liner locks, not even the axis.

I noticed this on my Whirlwind as well and it has long since worn off. I am using Break Free on it now and am having no problems.

I like to use a little bit of Militech lub on my Wirlwind and other knives. Best stuff Ive seen.My Wirlwind is much better than the more expensive random Task I had. Really impressed with the wirlwind .

From what it looks like, Kershaw lubes the heck out of the 1560 and 1550 folders (Whirlwind and Black Out, respectively). I guess this is why they are so smooth. As to the torsion bar, it does not require any care at all. It's made of stainless steel so it will not corrode and is specially shaped so that it will not weaken over time. Just treat the Onions like any other regular action manual folder.
