Kershaw/ZT Blems: How can we spot the blems?

Here is an example of the XXXX designation on the blade...my Kershaw JYD 2.2
I bought three of these from the KERSHAWGuy and they all looked flawless. I love this model.

My ZT0350 blem had a chip on the coating. Like I care, it'll get worn off eventually anyway.

I've owned many kershaw blems.
I was able to find the blem on two. One was the S60V Blur. I think they pretty much all had an asymmetrical grind, this is no secret. Mine was still sharp as all get out.
I don't recall which model the second was, but I recall that the black coated blade had the tiniest speck of something on it, maybe a bubble in the coating? Anyway, I had to look really really hard to find it.

I have about a dozen blems, some from Kershawguy and some from the factory sale, and the only ones I can find a fault with are a Storm II with a misgrind on one side and a rainbow Leek that's shedding its rainbowness. Aside from that, some of the "blems" are better cosmetically than some other brands' retail examples.

I still think Kershawguy accidentally shipped me a non-blem OD-1 instead of a blem. I felt kind of guilty getting something that good for so little money.

How would he ship you a non-blem one? Didn't all blems come with no box?

I have one of those as well. I think that occasionally blems wind up not getting the XXXX mark at the factory. It's up to all of us to be honest about the fact that they are actually blems and not firsts.
