Order of KAI group info and development thread.

We have the "go ahead" on this from Jimmer5 But, we are not officially endorsed by Kai.

We have a name! Order of KAI, thanks for the name Morrow, won with 3 times the votes of the second runner up. No need for a re-count

There will be Kershaw, ZT and Shun titles that can be earned.

This does not affect the Kershaw Sub-forum, that will remain as it is, there will just be a awesome group of people hanging out there.

#000 - Is given to Pete Kershaw, the beginning. Thanks for that idea EagleScouter
#001 - Reserved for ThomasW, if he decids to come home some day
#002-005 Currently reserved for forum Mods and for room to grow.

UPDATE Requirements: Here is a final draft of the point base system we will use. Suggested by Solid Orange. If you have ideas or suggestions send me a PM.

Based if the poll from BadJuJu, it looks like about 60% want the easiest recs, and 25% want the hardest recs. With that in mind we came up with this. It isnt the easiest but sure isnt the hardest. And with so many options we think it is very fair and flexible. This isnt designed so you can "get right in."

Bare Minimum Requirements:
- Own 1 Kershaw, or 1 ZT knife
- Have at least 50 Post in the Kershaw Sub-Forum (we want to know who you a little bit first
- Agree to follow the Kode of Konduct.

Score 12 points
1 point for every 4 Kershaws owned.
1 point for every 1 ZT owned.
1 point for every "Knife of the Year" owned.
1/2 point for every "Limited Edition knife" Kershaw or ZT owned
1 point for every year of BF membership.
1 point for every 200 posts.
1 point for every 50 posts of valye in the Kershaw section. ( “Ok”,”cool”,”” are not of value, but they are positive.)
1 point for every 10 threads of a positive nature started in the Kershaw section. (Please post threads of content)
1 point for a recommendation from a current club member.
1 point for a paid BF membership.
2 points for a gold BF membership.
3 Points for Platinum & Craftsmen memberships.
5 Points for Dealer membership
9 Points for Pirate membership
3 points for visiting the Kershaw factory. (3 points Max)
1 point for attending Kershaw events (Blade, SHOT, etc.) (This allows people in the rest of the country to rack up points without having to travel to Oregon.)
3 points for a whole collection of model or series (Own every Leek, ZT0350 or Own every CB, or every Blue Kershaw, etc)

- We will ask for picture verification for the Knife Points and the Kershaw Factory. Put your username in the knife pics, on a sticky note or something. But it has to be in the original picture, not added after the pic is taken.
- No paid membership requirements

We are not officially endorsed by Kai. If they choose they can shut this down, with that said they asked for some rules. So here we go...

Ideas/benefits/suggestions: There have been lots of ideas, I put a few here and will compile more. If some were similar to others I just grabbed one.

Hahaha Sounds good to me! Put me down! Personally would want it to be both kershaw and zt not just one or the other. As for the kershawholics, It seems anyone can enter and we don't really get anything from that. It is more just a join this if you like kershaw thing.
The Kershaw Mafia is ore of an older group thats been here for a long time. I don't think we would be able to join them.

I am all for it. Maybe something along the lines of what Chet was saying of a certain number of K/ZT knives or something. What rules do the beckerheads have to become one?

If we want to include both Kershaw and ZT why not lump all the brands under their mother company Kai?

I think any of those definitions would work well.

I think the above is a good place to start.


From what I have seen, we are the biggest group of Kershaw/ZT fans on this forum. I think BF is the only forum with a sub-forum for kai. If we had a good sized group, were able to weed out the spoilers maybe we could get more up to date info. I wish we could find things out before facebook and twitter. I think the "buying power" of us members is pretty strong, Ive seen some of the collections out there.

I think that's a great idea. I personally would like a ZT only and a Kershaw only one and not do them lumped but that is just my 2 cents. I like the idea of placing a quota on the number of ZT's you need to own!

You wouldn't need moderator approval to form a group. The Kershaw Mafia was/is a group a die-hard Kershaw/ZT collectors/fans that displayed a high degree of passion and knowledge about the knives. At last count there were 13 members. It was an invitation only group and I was last added member. There was a lot of activity here before the first Kershaw forum was archived. Most of us migrated to another much smaller forum to continue discussion of Kerhsaw/ZT knives. When the new Kershaw forum opened here, time between the the two forums became split and participation by most members died off at the other forum. Thomas was "head of the family" and being that he is unlikely to return that would need to be worked out. It would be best if it was someone from Kershaw/ZT but wouldn't have to be.

I think I like the idea of having two groups also. i.e. "Zero Tolerance Brigade and Kershaw Horde" This could be a means to some swag too, I'd hope.
