Sand and folding knives are the worst combination! I dropped my 940 in the sand once and it was never the same because, like an idiot, I thought it would be a good idea to flick it open a few times to clear out the sand. All I did was scratch the hell out of the internals.
 
Picked up a Dimension and made a few mods.
11v anodize bronze
Polished surface
Etched and polished blade.
Drilled out a lanyard hole.

I hear that, sand gets everywhere...pretty much the knife when into the bag until we left, then back to the pocket. A fixed blade would have been a much better idea although all of mine are in leather sheaths, another no no for the beach and sand though
