Kershaws Composite blade.. How and what?

Are the 2 pieces of each blade joined and then brazed or is it done in a huge billet that each blade is cut from? Id like to see a pic of what STR can do to these.. Ive asked before, but havent seen one yet.. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Send me an email, I'll respond wth pics. I don't have any pics on my flickr and I only have my phone right now. I can email you some quck shots with my phones crappy camera, it'll give you an idea of the profile.

The cutting edge is made of a higher grade steel than the spine, so each different steel is cut into the shape used for the particular knife and then the two pieces are joined together.

Hope this helps.

what steel is the edge made from and how hard is it?

Can't help you with the hardness, but the Tyrade is CPM-D2 for the cutting edge and 154CM for the spine. Found some info on the JYD. Here's a quote from Amazon: "The Junk Yard Dog features a blade made from the composite of two steels, 13C26 and CPM-D2, with a copper accent separator."
