Am I losing my mind? Nylon “last ditch self defense fixed blades”????

What world are we living in? I feel like this is a joke! Of all the things you could use for self defense, you’re gonna pick a knife? A PLASTIC knife? What the hell? Who is this made for? I’m just so baffled…..

Oh they'll do just fine for their intended purpose, which is to be a shank

Nonmetallic GFN/CF/G-10 knives have been around for decades. Their intent is to get past metal detectors and density scanners. AG Russell introduced the CIA Letter Opener in the 1970s.

Even before Covid, I'd seen 'tactical' usb cables and such. Not even enough to strangle somebody.
Now that plastic knife looks a lot better.

Black Triangle Group makes g10 daggers and such for self defense. Kershaw’s take is a joke because they have steel cores. They don’t even skirt metal detectors. Haha.

Polymer knives aren’t for slashing, but for stabbing. Generally targeted slashing is not preferred for self defense as it’s less efficient and arcing strokes leaves limbs vulnerable to separation from the body, and in a grappling event or a fight, you generally want your limbs tucked as tight to the body as possible to prevent underhooks.

The plastic shanks have a purpose. Poking something hard to cause pain to damage a bit and distract so you could then get to a better place or better weapon……..or a cool letter opener.

Most of the new products they released have this whole sci-fi, robot, blocky-tech look to them that personally I don’t care for :-/ maybe the looks will grow on me but I doubt it. Anyone feel the same?
I dislike pretty much everything new they dropped except the Federalist, but I like that enough that it probably makes up for all the others.

Same here. I like the look of the Federalist though.

Kai has been on that kick though. Look at 2021 ZT and Kershaw releases and they were the same. Alot of sci-fi looking things that came across as gimmicky and cheap to me. I thought ZT 2021s releases were awful but some people thought the opposite.

Whomever is designing Kershaw and ZT’s new stuff should be fired!

I don’t understand why they don’t bring in some custom makers to design their knives.

Except the Kershaws have a molded in piece of steel completely destroying the one way they may have been useful. :(

...somebody beat me to it.

I was laughing this morning at their advertising copy. They say about the Interval: "its larger form factor gives users extra surface area for work tasks"

Like, work tasks? With a blunt plastic blade? The only work task is stabbing people...
“Tactical deanimation activity” if you please;)
