Kershaw's / ZT's jimping...how do they do it?

Hi All,
How does KAI make the jimping on their knives? A lot of it seems to be a bit unique compared to other companies. It looks like a wire cuts the metal, or something else very thin.

Anyone know?

i would imagine they use a laser to cut out the blades out of one huge sheet of metal and do it there.

Thats an interesting question. I'd love to see the answer.

EDM would be too costly and slow on a big production basis like Kershaw. Most likely laser.

I always thought most manufacturers stacked the blanks, and put them on a broach (?) machine...

like they use to cut the teeth in pliers and such...

there was a pic a month ago or so of a knife (not a ZT) that had some pretty gnarly jimping, and I thought it looked like it was the top or bottom blank in the stack...

I am just guessing, though, no personal experience.
