For Sale – “Kestrel” in Fossil Coral – 1095 Differentially heat treated with Hamon; Fossil Coral and Eucalyptus Burl

Here is the second edition of my “Kestrel” series – same exact style but with some amazing handle material. The stabilized fossil coral is said to be at least a million years old and it comes in a multitude of natural colors derived from the minerals in the water where it lay on the bottom of the sea for milleniums. One key to using the fossil coral is knowing how to work it. It is extremely fragile until it is attached firmly in place - like Mammoth Tooth. Another key is to provide a shock absorber which is why I always use a wood “underlay” for it. Not only does it help protect the coral, but it makes for a very beautiful handle treatment. Take a look!

Very nice, sir. You may be off on the age of fossil coral by a bit. I was told that some of it is among the oldest fossil material around, like maybe hundreds of millions of years old!!!!!!

JDM - Thanks for the insight! So she lied about her age did she? Sheesh - can't even trust a girl named Coral anymore. ;):D

EQG- I appreciate it my friend!

Absolutely spectacular example of very fine craftsmanship. Wish I could afford this one! Nicely done.

Bouncin', bumpin', boostin' back to the top....

I sure have been getting loads of PM's and email inquiries on this one but she's still here for some reason. But I'm stubborn and prefer my blades go to someone who appreciates knives and not some tourist just passing through Vail or Aspen. My wife says my stubborness is counterproductive to sales so don't tell here it's still here on BF. ;)

First I'll take it get's free domestic shipping!

Remember, It's Father's Day soon. You print a picture, put it in the card or email it to him and I can ship it right to Dad. Just a thought.... and Dad would have a :D from ear to ear...don't cha think?

that sheath is just beautiful.. so is the knife, but i must say, the sheath grabs my eye just as much as that knife does

Thanks Gentlemen.

Logan - I am sooooo glad it finally made it to Israel! I'm even happier that you're pleased. (Email sent) :D

Seth - thanks as well for the sheath comment. I like knowing that I do everything from start to finish on my knives. I feel the sheath becomes the "dress clothes" that makes the first impression. It's kind of like your kids first day at school - you want them to look their best!
