Brian, I did get the one with the flat platen but I also got the rotary. I have no need for any of the contact wheels. Now all I have to do is re-teach myself. Samething as teaching an old dog a new trick. Luckly I've got more than one knuckle. Tried it last night for awhile but got tired of freezing my ass off. Its going to get a good work out today. So far I'm more than impressed by it and I'm sure it will become the best grinder I've had to date plus its mostly steel so I figure it won't be a total loss if I have another accident.

Hello, Ray

It seems you have not wasted any time, right?
I am glad to know that soon you will be showing us more of your great work, now that you got your grinder.
And I admire you for not having lost you faith and given up after the fire. I am sure I´d still be sitting on my backporch crying and cursing.

Sure missing my shop. Wasn't the warmest place in town but at least the wind didn't blow in there. I set the new KMG up outside today. I don't think it got over 30 and there was a 20 to 30 mile per hour east wind. I really think this time of year is for forging only....

BTW Ray
what do you do with your extra time anyway:D
I'll bet the claw hammer feels like swinging a tooth-pick:D

Dan, I decided to wait till the summer for the re-build. I managed to make some room in the garage so I've got half a half ass knife shop. With almost 30 years working as a carpenter year round I had my fill of working in the wet and cold. I also thought last years shop addition was it.

It's great to see you up and running again Ray!:D
Seeing that pic of all those forged blades makes me feel real lazy...I guess I've been dooin too much of this:jerkit:
Can't wait to see some of those finnished up...Think I'll go fire up the forge!
