For sale is a super rare LNIB Kevin Foster R1 Prototype. Kevin Foster is a small SoCal maker, with strong influences from friends and mentors like Tom Mayo, Lee Williams, Ray Laconico... You can see the design queues and he collaborated direct with Lee Williams in putting the R1 together.

Because I am not a fan of plane jane TI scales, I had the good gentlemen (Elliot & Chris) of Ferrum Forge Knife Works, give this a little overhaul. It included a full black nano-ceramic coating on the scales and filled the holes with three-tiered color anodized layers to match the gorgeous 3d milled timascus clip (gold, purple and blue tones).

The knife runs on caged bearings, very smooth, barely broken in, medium / firm detent, solid lockup at 30-40%, easy release, smooth mild shake drop shut closure, built entirely by hand! The lock-bar has similar design elements of a Grimsmo Norseman, really nice touch.

It is a slender but large at 3.78“(blade) *9.25(overall)” *0.40(width)” – 4.5oz. It has a gorgeous hand rubbed satin finish (CPM-154), perfect grind, very sharp and includes the original clip, which I also had done in black nano-ceramic to match. It comes in a cool “The Walking Dead” case. It is really a collector item, but totally functional for those who don’t care…
