Any idea when it might hit the street?
Thanks in advance.

From the other Spyderco forum, a quote from the Deacon:

Believe that Sal, Kristi, or both, already explained a month or so back that models not expected to reach dealer's shelves before mid-year do not appear in the catalog, even if their production status is definite. I would assume the Superhawk and the Anso and Wilkens collab models fall into that category. As for the Lum, at this point it's just a way overdue Sprint Run. It has already appeared in a Sprint Flyer, so would pretty much expect the knives to just show up one day, with not further publicity except perhaps a heads up here from Joyce, Kristi, or Sal.

We're looking at later 2008.

The lightweight version with Ti & green G-10.

I was lucky enough to find one Kevin Wilkins Lighweight Leafstorm in stock on his site when I visited it last so I quickly contaced him.

I took some photos of it & wanted to share them here with everyone because it is very similar to what Sal said the collaboration model will be the one I got is Ti with Olive Green G-11.

I have been drooling over Wilkins website for about a year now. I really like his kitchen knives and folders... These pics are torturing me.

I posted these in the other Spyderco forum so I should put them here as well here are some quick pics of the Wilkins Leafstorm with some different model Spydies.

Sorry for the photo & post quality I did it hastily

I think of the knives I compared it to so far it is about the size of the Dodo & the Poliwog. I could go on & on but thats it for me right now I want to go play with my new knife.

This Kevin Wilkins Lightweight Leafstorm is approx 6 1/8" long overall with a 2 1/2" blade & 3 5/8" closed length.

Interesting grind. Looks like a sort of hollow-chisel, would you say that's accurate? I wonder what the production version will be like. Thanks for all the pictures.

that is one of the coolest knives i've ever seen. how much do they run? i couldn't find a price on the site.

Thanks for the great pics. I'm not sure about this one. A full flat grind on both sides of the blade might look better. The G-11 gives the handle a cellulose look to it. I'm not picking, just commenting. This is a VERY interesting knife.

Yes I agree with you the blasted or matt side of blade is completely flat & the opposite side or lock side is the grind side & it is sort of a hollow - chisel grind.

Kinda a 1 & 4 combo >

They run 400 euro & I chose to use paypal & it cost $575.00 that way. He takes other methods of payment I wanted to get it done quickly.

Here are some closer pics of the blade.

George,
Thanks for the extra photos! It's a beautiful knife. I'd like to see a flat ground blade on one side, and a slight convex grind on the other. I ran that idea by Spyderco's R&D team a few years ago. Great pictures!

That is a beautiful knife, but for me, the chisel grind is a deal breaker. To the makers credit however, the flat of the blade is on the correct side for a right handed person.

I don't think we'll see too many chisel grinds on this model. I learned here that the CG the least desired blade profile. I like it ---IF it is done the right way.

I don't know, I like chisel grind. Allows you to lie the flat side on the side you don't want cut and acts as a guide

Very nice, small knife for my pocket. I wait patient :)

I was going to comment on that, too! Most knives lose "points" in my estimation by being chisel ground... but they gain most of them back for being done on the correct side!

Beauty of a knife George!! I can't wait for the production model, and the chisel grind doesn't bother me. Good catch.

hey George, the more pix I see your Wilkins Lightweight Leafstorm, the more I like it....heck the chisel grind doesn't even bother me anymore ;)
