I'm looking for a smaller pocket knife to attach to to my keys and looking for recommendations. I'm looking for something with a locking blade type of lock doesn't matter as it won't see harsh use. I'd also like a decent steel and not to $$$.

I second the ladybug, but I seem to pay around $30 or them???? Regards, Steve

For what it's worth, I got both the ladybug 2 and the jester, and the jester has a better handle. I gave away the ladybug. The Ladybug 3 uses what looks to be the same handle as the jester- a big improvement. So if you get the ladybug, get the Ladybug 3.

I really like the Boker Keycom. Teeny, but easy to handle, AUS-8 blade, removable pocketclip. $20 or less.

A fantastic, utilitarian slicer is the Case mini Blackhorn lockback. Just a good basic knife, small, lightweight, and cheaply available at many internet dealers and even Lowes.

My Ladybug has significant blade play - makes me hesitant to recommend. Although the size is suitable for a keychain.

For the same money, or less, the Ultimate Pen Knife from AG Russell is much better made. No lock though - you have to move up to the 2.5 Titanium (2" closed) to get a lock. The model Harkamus recommended is the 3.0 Titanium (3" closed), a bit larger.

If a lock isn't absolutely critical, I strongly recommend a small Swiss Army knife from Victorinox or Wenger. None of the small models have locks, but they have a variety of other tools that you may find useful on a daily basis - toothpick, tweezers, scissors, pen, bottle/can openers, etc. For particular models, check out the Stylus, Signature, Signature Lite, Classic SD, etc., etc., etc.

Spyderco Ladybug 3. I've had three different variations of the Ladybug and have yet to have a problem with any of them. Just keep in mind that it is not a "hard-use" folder by any stretch of the definition.

The Victorinox Classic SAK is another good one but it has a non-locking blade, however with knives this size that becomes a pretty mute point if they're used in the way that they were intended to be used.

I'd also recommend the Jester.....best little knife I've ever used on my keychain.
