Key chain knife ?

The U2, although an excellent little knife is WAY out of the price range. The survey is from SOG, they're doing a market research study. If it's still open (was as of 4PM yesterday) fill it out and they send you a Micron, and give you a 25% off coupon for the online SOG store.

I always thought the Benchmade Benchmite would make a great keychain knife because it locks closed. Obviously the other classic is the Spyderco Jester/Ladybug, but with all the keys and other crap I have in my pocket, I've always felt that it might accidentally open and send me to the hospital.

The Benchmite might work, depends how much you carry. I have several of the origionals. They are a bit big for serious keychain use though.

I still like the idea of a keychain knife (I carried a spydie ladybug for years) but I've sworn them off for now since my Byrd Finch (serrated) that I had on my keychain somehow (I still don't know how) came partially open in my pocket. I reached my hand in to get my keys and it sliced the devil out of the tip of my pointer & middle finger. My first thought was something bit my hand, but then I remembered the knife - ugh, time for the alcohol, hydrogen peroxide & band aids. I would recommend one w/ a strong closure detent.

Indeed, same here. Having a dedicated keychain folder would be great, but I just think it comes with too high of a chance for opening on me. So I opt to carry a Vic Rambler on my keychain.

I carried a red-handled Spyderco Ladybug on my keyring for years, but when it became too many keys/items on one ring, I now carry it on a separate keyring attached only to a Photon II micro light and a Jetscream whistle. I haven't upgraded to a Ladybug 3 yet, though. It's never opened accidentally in my pocket, and there's no bladeplay in the locked position in mine. It is a bit beat-up looking, though. Great little knife.

I could go as big as a Spydie Dragonfly. I have big keys!

I got a dragonfly and a ladybug. If you go for the FRN version of the dragonfly it doesn’t had much weight to your keys and you get a heck of a lot of cutting performance.

Hi ShobuMike,

Sorry about the Finch cut. I'd be happy to replace it for you with your choice of Ladybug3.

Hey Sal,

I really appreciate the offer, but I still like & use the Finch - just not on my keychain (it fits really well in my watch pocket & I'm just not sure about the entire keychain knife concept anymore). It seems to have decent opening resistance, that's why I still don't know how in the world it came open (probably one of those one in a million things).

+1 on the Benchmade Benchmite. I'm also a big fan of the Coldsteel Mini Pal. It a fixed push blade style with serrations.

I have been using this "Gerber Artifact" for about a month and a half and it's been useful more than once. Comes with replaceable blades. Has a screwdriver / bottle opener / and small prybar. The blade portion has a linerlock that works well. $10.00 most places I have seen them.
