Key Chain Lights? ? ?

As a dedicated "flashaholic" I have many small high end EDC lights but few are really suited for key chain use until recently with the release of the Nitecore Tube. At .34 oz.(9.6gr.), it's a thin, somewhat flat, rectangular USB rechargable 2-mode light (1 and 45 lumens) and costs less than $10. It's like a quality button cell light that never needs batteries...if "small and light weight" are important to you, do yourself a favor and check it out. Hell, for $10, you can give it away if you don't like it.

I got a couple of the Tubes when they were on sale before Christmas. So far I'm quite impressed. I can't really think of much I'd want to change about it. Small, but fits well in the hand. Simple interface. Well put together (with actual screws, no less!). Then you throw in the rechargability? They seem like a heck of a value to me and are my strong recommendation for a keychain size light right now...

Love my Prometheus Copper, definitely!

I will say though that a Photon Freedom is one of the greatest lights for general EDC. (Not talking people that need 10,000 lumens at any given moment) Talking utilitarian.

I have the Nitecore Tube, but does not have anything to keep it from turning on in your pocket. It also has no feature that lets you know when you are at the highest, so you end up going back to low without warning.

The UI of the Freedom is pretty much unmatched. You want immediate low...BAM You want immediate high...BAM You want to ramp up from low to high and know when you hit max output...BAM Seriously a kickass light.

At work I always have a Streamlight Microstream clipped in my pocket. Away from work I used to carry a Fenix, either an EO1 or an EO5. Recently I switched to an Olight i7R EOS Ti, I've only carried it a few weeks but have been happy with the light and very pleased with the keyring attachment system. The Olight weighs less than an ounce with battery and high output is 120 lumens.
