I am looking for some nice flashlights to give as keychain lights for some rough guys. The cheep ones break because they are cheap plastic. I don't want to spend a million bucks, but want quality tools. I need some help! I am looking at the photons....they look nice. Anyone reccomend them for this purpose, and has anyone used their rechargeable keychain light?
Thanks

I also recommend the E01. If you want something alot brighter then check out the Fenix LD01. They are the same size.

Well it is a mini flashlight. Simple twist on and off, easily done with one hand. If you want a clicky try a Leatherman Monarch 300, roughly the same size.

Try the County Comm AAA LED aluminum or SS flashlights. I think they are $22.00 and $28.00. I have a aluminum AAA light in black and I love it. It's the best AAA light I've used so far. The light settings are 62 lumin, 18 amd 1.5. Very tough and durable. One battery will last for a while if used at the 2 lower settings.

Do you fellas feel that the EO1 and the County com unit are small enough to have on a key chain? I have not seen them in relation to anything else?

Yes, they aren't much bigger than a single AAA battery. They go just fine on keychains.

As much as I like the EO1 (I have 3 of them), I will have to say they aren't really ready for RAT type abuse. The biggest problems that I have had with them is that the electronics aren't "potted" in epoxy which adds some serious waterproofing, resistance to the elements, and some shock proofing.

Just like with RAT knives, you pay a little more for quality. The Peak LED Solutions Matterhorn and ARC AAA lights are still the standards by which this type of light is judged. Both have excellent warranties, near bullet proof products, and great customer service.

I have one of the AAA from country comm and love it has be throw Hell and back still running.

I need something tough as do my people. I am a landscaper and I bang against stuff, wrestle tree limbs, bang shovels against me and all other sorts of Mayhem. I even lost a BK11 in the chaos once....which scares me as the sheath is very secure, and well it was attached on the front of my belt horizontally. I am loving the input guys!

I've been using my EZ-AA for a few months and it has replaced my E01.
the E01 its sturdier for sure.
if you want a simple and reliable light. the E01 is the one to get, cheap and bombproof.

Check out the Photon Mico-light, I think that will be what you need and if not, take a look around the site, I think you will be impressed.

I have used the Photon II and Photon Freedom for over 3 years now without any problems. I even hung up a Photon II on a ceiling fan during a black out because of a tornado and it burned all night without a problem or a battery change.

I have also used the Photon I and their newest X-light Micro, it is ALL good.

The keychain light I have not used, but if it runs like the other products they sell, you should have NO problem.

Right now most of the micro-lights are 100% brighter than the ones they sold last year.
I have some of the new ones and it does make a big difference.

What is also neat is the signaling mode and different beam brightness, controlled just by squeeze. Neat stuff and VERY dependable.

If you are buying a few, please e-mail Amber:

amber@laughingrabbitinc.com and tell her Pastor Marko from the IntoTheWoods Book Project sent you. They LRI is a book sponsor for our project.

I hope you find what you are looking for Agent Iron.

Check out the Streamlight Key-Mate and Nanolight. Fenix lights are pretty neat technology in that they're so bright for small lights, but I've rarely heard them considered rugged. In a low light handgun class last month a guy said he had given Fenix 3 strikes and they were out. Electronics in all them went tits up. His 200+ lumen Fenix was 5 lumens after being run next to a handgun for 8 hours.

I have the fenix E01 on my keychain and highly recommend it. For $15 I'm very satisfied.

Do pretty much all of the flashlights reccomended have a good solid key ring attachment? I don't want to hook it on something only to have the light attachment tear away.

The E01 has the attachment machined out of the tail end. It's also designed so it will set up like a candle which is nice.

Some Photons have a "baby micor caribiner" looking attachment, pretty neat, the ones with normal splitrings are pretty solid as well.

+1 EO1 and check out Swiss Tech Micro Light Ultra. Their lights use common bats and all components are replaceable.

Underwater Kinetics makes some decent little lights as well.Worth looking at and the clips they come with are very handy.
