I'm finishing up a project that I'm calling the "Khowboy Khukuri" for obvious reasons. It started out as a 12" AK villager with a pretty dull wood handle that I decided to "upgrade" into a "fusion" knife idea.
Some will like it, some will hate it.

OoooooHhhh!!!! Me Likey!!!!! Beautiful stag well executed!!

Well done Brian, well done!!!!

That's really nice Brian, me being a redneck I can really appreciate that style of "Khowboy Khukuri" .

So, how much would you charge to do one for me ?;)

VERY nice! Like to see a Pen Knife with a stage handle like that! I especially like the front guard and also the way you kinda made the sheath belt loop have a khuk handle shape. Really nice sheath too.

I'm still catching my breath from this project, Carman, I'm not even thinkin' about makin' another one -- for a while. :) I don't know where I would even find a piece of Sambar stag like that now that the Indian government has it on its list of forbidden exports. The piece at the butt end is from an Elk antler that was tagged in Wyoming in 1947. The butt plate and guard are from 3/8" brass bar stock.
The tang was threaded 10 X 24 and a blind hole in the butt plate was threaded to fit. The whole shebang is set in epoxy.
The only power tools used on this project were a drill press, a band saw and a buffer with a 4" wheel to lightly polish the brass. The shaping and contouring of the brass and antler were all done with files and abrasives.
Thanks for asking.

:)

Brian?

That is wonderful. Wonderful. Wonderful.

Very nice, too.

(You'd be the hero in any Western movie!)

Beautiful work.

That is one awesome, incredible and distinctive piece you've got there Brian! I am generally not a stag fan, but you have pulled of a very unlikely look very, very well. :) :D :)

Beatiful work. It makes me imagine an alternate past where the stag-handled khukuri takes the place of the bowie in American history :D

Josh,
Sounds like a screen play to me. Do the treatment, and my people will call your people. We'll do lunch.
:D

REALLY fine job on th sheath, too, Brian.

(I'm pretty sure I like the knife, too. I'll be certain after you send it.:)

So Brian, you're telling us that the guard and buttcap are just 3/8" wide? How wide and thick is the stag and elk antler and how long and thick is the guard?
Perhaps a couple of pix with a scale or ruler or even a dollar bill would put the knife in some sort of scale?
Sure would be nice if you can manage it.:D ;)

I consider myself pretty handy, and have a shop full of just about every tool imaginable, but would give anything to be able to say that I could do work like that. Especially the sheath. I wouldn't even know how to start.

Maybe experimenting on a villager is the way to go. I have a chunk of very old fancy figured black walnut that I've been saving, but I had better set aside a few months for the effort anyway!

Outstanding effort Brian, with beautiful results. Give yourself a pat on the back. (But put down the khuk first!) :)

Regards,

Norm
