Khuk and stuff at your bedside?

i sleep on a wooden box with drawers. the top right drawer, directly below my pillow, is home to all my knives. at the moment, the first thing you see looking in is the ganga ram.

those 25" sirupatis seem to be quite popular.

can someone pick me up some high cap mags while they're at it? i'm in NJ. 15rd cap...i think it's still legal to receive as a gift, just no purchasing. I'll have a gift ready for you in return...wink.

I generally keep a M37 Ithica 12 gauge, a Tomahawk and a 1911 handy. Though I recently picked up a Taurus revolver chambered in .45 Colt/.410. Only shot it a couple of times but...me likey!

Me would Likey TOO!!!! That would be one heckuva Snake Gun!!!! :D
My Uncle Bud had a .410 pistol single shot made a long, long, time ago that a .44 could be fired through. The steel around the chamber was nearly 7/16" thick and very strong so safe.
Uncle Bud had a lot of old and WW II guns pass through his hands I would've loved to have had, especially the .30 caliber machine gun, belt fed and loaded with five balls and a tracer.
I never got too shoot it and he didn't keep it long. I've often wondered where that gun got off too.:D

Once I put a few more rounds through it and know it's 100% relyable I may use the Taurus for a home defense pistol. Load 'er up with .410 Buckshot and keep it by the bedside! Handy!
Yvsa your Uncle Bud sounds like a man after my own heart.

Well with the move from Central Oklahoma to The Northeastern section of the state in full swing, the armory was packed up first and tightly secured.
So all I have right now is A CS ( Cold Steel) 6" Ti-lite and Vaquero Grande, My HI M-43 and BAS and 18 hand slings. ( Kismet I'm still working on a descriptive article on them for this forum)

Samuraidave, you make it sound like you want to jump out of bed from a deep sleep and engage in hand-to-hand combat.
Madmike, how many rounds do you need to put through a revolver to make sure it's reliable? shouldn't be any stove pipe problems there,eh? The first thing you pick up, when things go bump in the night, should make a hell of a racket and spew forth hundreds, if not thousands, of metallic orbs. Keep the fight from arms reach. Keep it simple. No hopped up target guns, no AKs or M-16s. Your bird gun will suffice and most likely keep you out of prison compared to other means of dispatching the perp. Would you rather defend yourself in court using a nine iron or a Kumar Kobra?
Just my 2 cents, your laws may vary.

Right now...?
Sai - Traditional set of three
Jutte
Koppo
HI Angkhola
Bow- (short step away)
The REALLY nasty long distance stuff are tucked away in their beds.
Had some woeful misbegotten person screaming outside my bedroom window that he was a (quote) "demon from hell ...ahhhrggggh !" at three o'clock in the morning quite recently.I dithered over which to take outside the Angkhola or the Sai.As I thought I would turn it into a pleasurable adventure for me I chose the Sai....in all my born days I have NEVER seen anyone run away that fast...man that guy was travelling...OK... I admit I was a little bit grumpy !

Awww...:(

Jeez...I don't need all them guns and frills....

All I sleep next to is an alarm clock...:thumbdn:

Go ahead and laugh....

Did you ever see the DVD of her killing a wild hawg with a knife?

Enough said....

Ask Specter...he's seen the video footage of Wendy and her killing knife...

If the zombies show up...all I gotta do is give her a nudge...roll over and catch some more zzzzzz's....

Don'cher wish you had a woman like that?:D

Very few knives can keep up with eight 230 grain slugs.

they did a study within the last few years, if a man with a knife and a trained cop with a holstered gun are seperated by over 7 yards when the knifeman starts his attack, the cop had time to draw and shoot. under seven yards the knifeman got the cop every time before he could align the gun with the knifeman. most domestic distances are well under 7 yards. draw your own conclusion.

But in your own home, probably in your bedroom, in the wee hours of the night, it probably won't go down like that.

lt will be more like this:

Your dog is barking at something and wakes you up.

You sit listening and hear glass breaking in the living room.

Yep, intruder. You get your pistol or shotgun and creep up on them.

lf they have a knife, baseball bat, or machete, you have the advantage. Your gun is already out, loaded, chambered, and pointed right at them. lf they have a gun, you still have the advantage if you take them by surprise.

lf they have a gun, and you have a knife, you will only have the advantage if you take them totally unexpected, and only if you use the knife on them in a quick and brutal sneak attack.

... which may be highly illegal, depending on where you live.

I've got a HI Gelbu Special, a Sig-Saur P220 and a bright modified flashlight (100+ Lumens). And an alarm clock.

Yep. I've seen that demo in a CCW class. That scenario in that study is a surprise attack. A knife wielding man against an unprepared officer who has his gun holstered. Also the officer is not allowed to move away, he has to stand his ground. If the two are equal, for surprise attack vs surprise attack, a gun is > knife. For prepared vs prepared, a gun is again > than a knife.
