Khuk in Movie

I was flipping channels and happened upon the movie Waterworld with Kevin Costner. Dumb plot and acting but what really caught my attention was that he was using a khuk for various "tasks." My thoughts were finally some one was using the right blade!

I noticed that the last time I saw it too.
I also saw a Brown Company commercial on ESPN that looked like a sirupati being wielded by some MA type.
Anyone confirm?
