Khukri Hardness...

If you read the UBBB Deals as they come up, the message reads "No Telephone Calls, Email only"

If you have been reading the forum, you would know Bill Martino is sick and not feeling good at all. Yangdu , his wife , if taking care of Uncle and doing a fine job with the specials, also.
It is time to consider others rather than your constant complaint about the hardness. Uncle has already told you , he would fix it, others have related their belief and trust in Uncle. However you persist in complaining. Email Uncle Bill and the problem is resolved.. End of Story

Well, I obviously haven't been reading the forum (notice my super high post count). I did not realize that talking about a legitimate problem in a forum dedicated to the manufacturer was a social faux pas.

At the end of the day, I was just trying to gather information about a knife that is new to me in design, construction, etc. I was not putting down your "uncle" or whomever.

Clearly, as a new member, I have stumbled into a clique that I am not welcome to join, so I will bow out.

Thanks for your time.

Hey, Slash,

Don't take this stuff personally. We all get nutty sometimes, man.

Guys, as I relative newbie, I must say that the first little while on a new forum is a time of feeling-out. He doesn't yet know our crazy ways. Somebody from other forums wouldn't know how to handle us at first. Everybody, take it easy. :)

So, seriously, man, ya don't need to leave. We're good guys. No harm done. :) Hope ya don't go. This place is really great. Also, I don't think that LCS was yelling at first. He was just concerned for Uncle Bill. Things just got outa hand there. It happens.

If you read this, slash, then at least hear this: There are not any grudges I know of. We're not cliquey. LCS won't take this personally if you don't. It was a misunderstanding, and there *really* will not be any hard feelings.

I just joined late this year, man. They took me in well! :)

not clique
but there is a family&friends feeling
which includes some protectiveness for others here
and as such there's some sensitivity
btw, not ALL capitals are 'yelling'
though personally I like -other- ways of emphasis
especially when making an important point

New friends are always welcome
every new group/place
cyber or otherwise
takes some time to become part of
instead of being a visitor
to learn the local customs & ways

Everyone (as in me, you, him, .....) makes mistakes
everyone has bad days

be well
be back
you're as welcome now as ever

We have had our problems with trolls

Low post count has no reflection on the amount of time spent on the forum

Welcome to the forum and a GREAT site for gaining immense knowledge of Khukuris and maintenace, plus meeting a group of great individuals with not only knowledge of knives but of many other worldly subjects.

Some of us have had the occasional problem with a Khukuri. Bill Martino has always made it right. HI has the best customer service that I have known.

UNCLE is a sentimental term out of respect for Uncle Bill Martino and we are called his NEPHEWS/NIECES.

We don't have a clique, but a extended family group which I would hope you would join with your knowledge of previous knife making. As you say, approximately 20. As a family, as in all families, we occasionally tell each other off, when we feel someone is being treated unfairly.

Uncle did say send it back and he would make it right. Your post implied, (correct me if I am wrong) you liked the knife except for the harness and wanted to keep it, but still maybe get a replacement. Hmmmmmmm.!

Didn't sound like you had tried any initial contact with HIMIMP to discuss the problem (via email) but wanted to discuss all the problems on the forum in a somewhat negative way.

Sure we have protectionism of HI, as many other forums will trash any product that is not theirs. Not necessarily the MFR but the die hard owners of such products. Try to explain the deficiencies of a Ruger and recommend a S&W on some of the forums. Just an example, albiet poor.

I do know CAPS are normally considered shouting, but in our case, I was trying to high light the EMAIL ONLY portion and get your attention, so as NOT to waken Bill should he be resting from his illness or be not fully alert due to his medication. The man has done some great things in his life, and I for one, fully respect him for the things he has done. I have only met him once, along with Yangdu, and Pala, really down to earth and good people.

It appears we are both a bit testy and you struck a nerve when you came back so suddenly with, "WHY ARE YOU SHOUTING!" As I have stated, I meant to highlight a point. I agree I could have italized or colored the words, but I'm not as good on the computer, as I would like, and forget the embellishments available.

I have purchased, I think, over 120 HI products over the last 3 years, only one failure. A Tarwar broke at the hilt. When I explained to UB, it was expeditiously sent for repair at all cost to UB and returned in fine condition.

Once again, WELCOME TO THE FORUM, I don't have the expertise of other forumites, but truly appreciate the craftmanship of Bir Gorka, but we are all human and errors are corrected to keep a fine HI product.

I could run on and on, but Parental Caregiver Duties are calling.
