Khukri House khukris VS Himalayan Imports

i buy my khukuris from KHHI not h.i. I have noticed that hardly any of H.I's knives are double pegged , hence not full tang. most of KHHI khukuris are full tang.i trust and use my full tang khukris i don't want them for display purposes.

Not sure where you've been looking, but HI has many models that are full tang Chiruwa style handles. Even the non chiruwa handles are securely peened.
HI has never made khukuri for display purposes. It has been the khukuri business model others copy for over 25 years.

i looked at their[ H.I.] website yesterday and saw few kukuris of full tang K.H. has been around longer, makes kukuris for the Gurkha units in service of England and indeed is the first and true model and maker that others have copied, including H.I

The website isn't the only place to look.....
Actually, these two business were started within a few years of each other. HI in 1988 and KH in 1991.
Many companies have supplied (or claimed to supply) to the gurkha units. Unless one has proof of current contract, who actually is supplying them now is anyones guess. If it weren't for Uncle Bills marketing fine quality khukuri in magazines and online to the western world, it is likely that the khukuri would have remained an obscure blade sold as souvenirs in shops and bazaars only in Nepal. This is documented fact.

I have khukuris from both KHHI and HI. I ordered from Himalayan Imports to see what was it about them that fills threads about them with religious-like rhetoric that they are the best and top of the cream, etc. Himalayan Imports is definitely not the best. They are okay. Their blades certainly do not come razor sharp either. Matter of fact I had to spend about 45 minutes stropping on a leather to make one of their kukris cut paper. It would be nice if knife and sheath be wrapped into some sort of clean paper or rag before gift wrapping it into a newspaper loaded with toxic ink. I got a better wrapping and the blade from KHHI on their general then on the HI Chiruwa Ang Khola. Responses from HI could be better too. Selling blems with dings, dried out wood as top quality is not very cool in my opinion. And justifying it with the fact that knives are hand made is not very cool either. I did get an offer to send them back for a full refund including postage back. That is certainly an achievement. But why do that? Few hundred bucks to find out what the "best" company is really worth? That's a small investment IMO. I can use an all around beater knifes.
So I believe either khukuri company will make you a desent hand made khukuri. I tend to find KHHI quality as well as communication better from either Nepal or knivesbyhand guy in the states. They actually respond to suggestions. I am not affiliated with any of the companies. I just believe that you should get what you are paying for. If I am paying $195 for chiruwa from a company that claims top quality, it better be pretty close to pristine.
