Here's a pic of what I ended up with after replacing the handle on my 25" sirupate. It's my first time building a leather washer handle.

Thanks Jake, had to use different leather near the pommel, and it doesn't blend well. On the positive side it feels good in my hand,so it's all good.

Well done, thank you for the picture

Very nice! I was thinking about doing one of those with a bit of heavy-duty Neoprene sheet I have.

Thanks for sharing and please let us know how you like it!

Yangdu,thank you!

DrThunder88-If I ever get the chance to use it I'll certainly post a review. Altered the sheath and am waiting for the epoxy to dry. I can tell you the balance of the khukuri makes it seem lighter than it is.

That is totally cool TW. I have never used a leather handled khuk but I would think that with the shock absorbing nature of the leather it would be the ultimate user type handle:thumbup:

Thanks HD, if it works on my Estwing hatchet, maybe it'll work on this. It was kind of tedious project, and I had to buy a cheapy belt sander to get it done. I think it was worth it though in the end :).

Hd-Yes,I had it down smaller than I originally thought and used a 10-24 die. A good quality die will make a difficult task much easier,so don't go cheap. The pic isn't the best, but before I started I actually put a bend in the tang.

leebrewer-Thanks!

Very nice.

As far as the different leather colors, it looks deliberate to me, and a nice touch. If it bothers you, some stains might mute the color hue variance.

Thanks Kismet,I tried several things to stain it,and finally gave up on it. It feels good in the hand and it's sturdy,I can live with it.

Wolf_1989 and HD-Then I should pretend it was intentional? ;)

TW, I'm neither of them but probably being here longer than either of them as well as achieving "Old Fart Status" many years ago and therefore probably being much more qualified to respond.;) I'm going to answer your question by saying....
Of course!

At first glance it looked to me like you had kept some saatisal near the pommel and bolster with the leather composing most of the new handle.

And I've seen knives with handles similar to that.

I do believe if I ever replace a handle on one of my khukri's, I'll go the leather washer way. This isn't the first one I've seen and they're impressive every time.

;)

A leather washer handle on a Movie Model or UBE would be stunning.

Ysva- Thanks it's good to have the blessing of a senior member.:)

Wolf_1989- This is my first sirupate,I'm thinking of going for another in a shorter length. Just as soon as I can figure out what the perfect length is..:) I agree the Uncle Bill Especiale would look really good with one.

Well, we're all different in that regard. I like my khukri's at 20"+, but I'm a big guy.

Compaing my two favorites, a 21.5" Chitlangi and a 26" Chitlangi, I figured a 23" would be just about right... so I requested a 23" Chitlangi with a slight modification.

That's (for me) long enough to be an effective short sword but still short enough to be an effective tool.

So.. coming (perhaps very) soon: Wolf's Battle Chitlangi.
