The last few weeks I have been fascinated with khukris and the legends that suround them.
Has anybody here used them ?
I almost bought one at a gun show but I had already spent my money for that day.
I also found www.gurkhas-kukris.com They have amazing knives and they are well priced.
Every knife is handmade by talented Kamis ( Bladesmiths )
from military truck leaf springs
I find everything about these knives amazing.

write in if you have used one :D

Most folks seem to think Kukri House doesn't hold a candle to Himalayan Imports. I can't speak for them myself, as I have not handled models by either company, but I trust the kukri nuts on here enough to say that HI is probably your best bet. :)

Wow, those are some good prices. Of course not making them in a high wage country helps on that account.

These blades look to be well made and worth the money. Anyone here have these?

Plenty of folks have them. Check out the HI subforum under the Manufacturer section. :)

I've picked up a couple of the Bay. One was from Nepal for about $50 that has been a good performer for what little I've used it cutting hard oak and maple. Then a little while back I picked up one that was made in India for $25. I haven't really used it out side of cutting a 1x2 into stakes. It did alright. I'm sure H.I. makes some nice stuff, but I don't even have a real need for something like that outside of curiosity, but they are amazing tools.

Been using khuks to some capacity on and off for around 17 years or so. My first two were bought from a fellow in Alberta who had an ad in the classifieds of Blade Magazine. In more recent years, I've picked up multiple blades from Himalayan Imports and a few from Tora. Both make very nice tools. My Sgt. Khadka Bonecutter is probably my favourite, and is what I go to for medium to large chopping tasks.

himilayan imports

+4 on that.

I've searched the internet and have seen plenty of gun show offerings,I've handled eveything i could find from Windlass khuks to Tora Blades khuks and i've yet to see a khukuri that can hold a candle to the Himalayan Imports product. The fit and finish on the Tora's is fine, much, much better than the Khukuri House models but still isnt as good as what Himalayan Imports consistantly puts out. Add the Fact that H.I. employs the best Kami's in Nepal and have The "Royal Kami" Lal Bhadur Bishwakarma(Who made all of the king of Nepals Blades) as their shop manager. They treat their Kami's very well, paying them well above average for their work and provide healthcare for them. Also add the fact that Himalayan Imports khuks are very competitive in price once you figure in the cost of shipping a KH or Tora.
Himalayan Imports has the best Lifetime guarantee and Awesome customer service on top of it all, Thanks to Yangdu.
AND they have a forum here in the manufacturers section, where not only can you find some of the best deals and discounts, you can also get great deals on blems and get to know some of the most knowledgable and friendly khuk knuts anywhere.

I have used an H.I. M-43 model extensively in real world survival situations which extended over several years. The blades versatility and toughness were unbelievable.

The kukri is without a doubt one of the best all around survival tools if not the best of em all.

HI

I have a 16.5" WWII and it's a beast, but it's nothing compared to something like Leatherface's 20" Chiruwa Ang Khola (if I recall correctly) :)

i have a 15inch british service army model, made by bura from hi. it is alot of fun in a bunch of 6inch round popalar trees.

I am sure that the H.I. kukris are much better but I dont think I have 100 bucks to spend right now.
Better start saving I guess :o

For any kind of substantial work worthy khukuri from any other vendor you're looking at spending at least $70.00 or so, tack on $30.00 or so for shipping from overseas and you are already at $100.00. If you watch the "Deal Of The Day" sales threads in the H.I. forum, you can get a much better khukuri for your money, shipping included from nevada and have a great experience with customer service and a lifetime guarantee.Blems not included of course. And H.I. has a much better selction to choose from IMHO.

If you can't pick up a HI Khukuri for between $75 to $85 delivered to your door through the deal of the day you are just not trying.

I got a 15inch 25ounce British Army Service today for $75.00.

The service Yangdu at HI provides just can not be beaten.
