I like the Chitlangi handle, but I train with a WW2 with a wood handle, and it works just fine. As long as the pommel flares, you can put your thumb on the spine and snap the khukuri with your wrist, so the pommel digs into your palm, letting you snap it back (or out of a target) with ease.
I guess it depends on how you use it.
I grip it near the top of the handle rather than the middle or bottom, with my thumb gripping atop the bolster as you get more balance. I can spin it around in my hand like that - which looks cool - but I dont recommend you try that just yet.
I dont see much use for the Chitlangi style handle. In fact I find with my Chitlangi style khukuri that it vibrates quite a bit in that big end, and it starts to hurt after some chopping. Maybe its just mine though
