Khuks ()

They look very similar to me.

They are practically identical, as far as design, but the Russian link is a modern reproduction of that type of knife, so I don't think it would be especially valuable in itself. Also, they aren't asking nearly as much for it as for some of the others.

Thankyou very much for that information Esav. If their reproduction is nearly as good as the original it would be a great kukri. And I must say even as a repro it's nice to see someone following the original so closely. Cheers

I feel so... multicultural.

Copy & paste, scratch & sniff. Me too Bruise. I like your style. :D :D :D

I agree, it's great to see reproductions of classic patterns. It's like collaborations with custom knifemakers, where we can get reasonably priced working versions of their otherwise prohibitively priced knives. And in this case, no one would dare mess up the original by using it! :D

thanks for the tip, guys.....I think I'll keep this one under my hat. ;)

Thank you Maxim. I was glad to see the kukri used for comparison in the picture is the knife I discussed.

# E-5. Kukri styled knife. (two lower knives). Blade: stainless steel 95X18, hardness 58 HRC. The handle is hollow and made from titanium, the inner diameter is 25 mm, the inner length is 70 mm. Guard: duralumin. Total length: 430 mm, handle: 140 mm, blade: 290 mm, blade thickness: 5 mm, maximum breadth: 68 mm.

upper knife (for comparison): 'genuine' kukri from Nepal. Handle length: 130 mm, blade: 400 mm, blade thickness at the handle:9,5 mm, in the middle of the blade: 7 mm, at the end:1 mm. Maximum blade breadth: 68 mm. Hardness 54 HRC.

Yes!!!! Many thanks for the website in English! I was wondering if there was one and looked for a link but didn't see one. Now I can delete the Russian site I bookmarked.:D

Damascus Khuk... :D :D

Nice! No cho, but there is a choil... That's ok! :D :D

Good work, and very pretty!

I am interested in having a German katzbalger made.
I would like it with an 45 cm long blade, 5 cm wide.
15 cm long handle.
Are you familiar with the katzbalger design?
It is a short sword used by the German landsknecht during the renaissance.

I was just going to ask for pics....thanks Esav.

Something like this?

this page is excellent and shows some of the German swords that were getting very very close to the katana in shape.
The dussack has an almost exact katana shape near the tip.

Hello Danny,

I technically can make katzbalger. The price and building time depend in a great extent on desired technical parameters, materials, design nuances and decoration, also type of sheath, its materials and decoration. The price may vary from hundreds to thousands USD, time - months. It is usually a time-consuming process to quote and then discuss such an order. You can contact me by e-mail for that if you are interested.

Maxim.
