mineral oil can be scented with essential oils, tho make sure they are not acidic. Malayan/Indonesian Keris traditionally have been annointed with flower scented oils as a mark of respect and honour.
* p.s.- you can find ballistol on ebay, but it's in germany (also in german) and don't know if they'll ship over here, the link above is probably best, you can also converse with him via email & see if he has any local dealer
