Khukuri Kits - What Style Should I Order?

Since the Christmas shipment was delayed, I have been adding a few things to it. I figured I'd ad the kit blades, and want to know what the majority consensus says about what type of blade to order. To keep it simple, please no custom requests. Keep your votes to "17 inch WW" and that kind of thing.

Thanks.

Craig, are you referring to the "project" khuks -- basically a blade sans handle slabs? If so, my vote would be for an 18" AK blade, full tang.

By "kit" do you mean that the blade would come with handle material that we could shape and fit ourselves?

I'd like to see something in the 18inch rangethat would take slab handles.Something in a utility design

Hey guys! Greetings from Finland. Haven't been here in a while, and finally got the opportunity to check the forum.

I think I will order a couple of styles of kit khukuris (yes, they would be the kind that would come only with blades and scabbards, but no handles). I had a few spike tang versions (see Mad Dogs work in the photo gallery), but never got any full tang models (although one could say that the WWIIIs are a sort of kit khukuri, except that they are not being sold as kits, but are being finished by Robert and Edgeworks). But yes, the idea would be the same. I like the full tang option because it affords people like me who dont have Mad Dog's skill the chance to do SOMETHING with the kit.

Hi Craig,

Glad your trip over went OK. Where abouts in Finland are you anyway? If I remember correctly, Finland has a pretty good sized Reindeer herd. If you get the chance, try some Reindeer steak. Cook it with a little red wine and onions then serve it with potatoes and green beans and...............
I'm rambling again and now my stomach is growling.

Now for the Khukuri kits. I'd like to see a 15 to 17 inch Sirupati with a full tang. Basically a SN-1 with a slimmer, narrower blade. Light and fast.

Time to head to the kitchen. I can't stand the growling noise anymore.

I could go with a 15in (or thereabouts) Sirupti style blade to try my hand with.

Craig,
What are we looking at for a price range on these critters? I know that this will vary based on the blade style, but just wondering...

'He's losin' it... (Words spoken about me by a visitor seeing me with my Khuk!)
Lucky for them I'm not...

WWIII's, Salyans(oh yeah!!!), and Ang Kholas!
All should have full profile slab tangs and if possible, a 0.5" hole centered in the radiused end for tying off my tsuka-ito.
