A wise Roman general participating in a parade in Rome celebrating a recent victory he had enjoyed instructed his slave riding in the chariot behind him to whisper in his ear repeatedly during the parade, "all glory is fleeting."

during that same period of time, I made my own soap, using venison fat (rendered) lye (or the drainings of wood ash from a wood burner), and water. Took forever...constant stirring and I was extremely anxious about the lye.

However it worked, and worked fairly well. Later I used bacon grease for some, and even lamb fat. Each had their own scent..not stink...but a different smell to them, and worked well.

Good stuff, Sarge. I think 90% of the stuff we humans make can be reapplied to some other use in the field, we just have o discover those uses.
