Khukuri Maintenance video from youtube

I have two fully sized khukuri, a BAS, and now a 18" GRS. It is very clear for me (and I'm a BIG guy) which one I'd rather carry around with me. But, it is also easy to tell which one will out chop the other. They all have their places, and I think that is a strength of HI, because they do have a large catalog so that we can get the right khukuri for the job.

For hiking and camping, I believe that the BAS is about as good as it gets. I haven't used a Sirupati, though I'd like to get one for my collection. But for me, my BAS is the perfect take anywhere and do anything blade.

My Ganga Ram! is another beast entirely. @ 31 oz, its not calling for me to go hiking with it... But, it is screaming at me to CHOP everything in site!!

OH... on more thing..
Thanks for videos Alexs!! Very enjoyable and informative!

First off let me state "I am not gay either. I may not be a big guy like Shinook or those men mentioned by alexs but I don't need a huge knife to get the ladies :D.

Anyway, I will quote Simon (sirupate) here answering a poster to one of his videos:

First the Poster: "In the end, I think the "true" Nepalese kukris are too long, too light, and the stick tang is too flimsy to replace an axe, a machete and a knife. Frankly they seem little more than glorified machetes. The Kukri House kukris may be heavy, unbalanced and uncomfortable but they seem to have the heft and smaller length to serve as all three, and are over-built enough to not have any kind of catastrophic failure.

Simon: "I can achieve everything you talk about needing from a kukri, with the old style 29cm long bladed British Service Issue kukri weighing 457 grams!"
I quote Simon because his knowledge like Jonathon's I respect. Sure heavier Kukris have their place but I am of the opinion that a normal weight Kukri, a 3 to 4 inch knife, and a saw is all you need.
Next question: What's a normal weight Kukri? That is up to you to decide .
