Even at my age I found the first khuk's to be just amazing. And to think they make these with the same type of tools that have been used for something like 400 years or better. Uncle Bill says the most modern tool they have now is an electric grinder that they didn't have before.

It amazes me that each one is so alike to another of the same model, & yet, every one of them is different. As much as I love the big khukuris, I have a couple of Sirupatis made before the kamis marked them that I wouldn't take anything for. The blades aren't as shiny as the ones today, but they are well-made & tough & these 2 old work horses balance in my hand like they were part of it. I sent a BAS to a friend in the military recently. It was his first H.I. khukuri & he is just as amazed as I am how they balance & how certain ones have that almost magical feel to them. They are the most amazing blades I have ever seen.

Nice reviews fan, just set me thinking about something. We talk about the way certain blades feel to us, how about the way they feel to others?
What I mean is I like the one Khuk I have a lot, from what I have heard it isn't HI standard but its still nice, it feels right. The reactions of other people vary, my Uncle was very uncomfortable holding it (he is with any weapon though), my girlfriend was slightly scared by it, other people refused to touch it (a phenomanon I have encountered with rifles and still find strange) but perhapse most surprisingly of all, my Nan picked it up and liked it a lot, she could 'swing' it accuratly and just seemed to 'fit' with it.
Anyhow, just something that occured to me.
