Nakago1: Sorry man I got sidetracked on a virus and neglected to answer your question as I initially intended. My first Khuk was a 15" Ang Khola by Rajkumar Kami and is a great chopper and a good candidate for what you describe but is only 15" and lacks the reach for clearing like a machete might provide you. Chopping and clearing as I see it are two different end members though. If you want to clear brush and small vines branches brush etc then you may want to think about something lighter, longer, and faster with some reach like 21-25 inches in length and Sirupati, Chitlangi, Kobra etc. comes to mind here.
If you want a chopper then The Chiruwa Ang Khola (CAK) or 18" Ang Khola (AK) would be a great choice. KLVUK if you want a low budget blade with all the quality and function of its shiny brothers. If you want to compromise between the both then there are many options such as M43, WWII, KLVUK, Chitlangi, BAS and then some. My first choice was a 15" AK but if I had to do it all over again I would have chosen an 18" for the added weight needed for more serious chopping and less need for packing or hiking. The better you can narrow down the intended purpose the better these folk can narrow down your choices. Its really hard to select one Khuk for all. Whats great about this forum is you can get deals of the day here for cut rate prices and try out a few pieces for the price of one to help guide you to the perfect knife to suit your needs. For someone just starting out a Chiruwa Ang Khola (CAK) is a great choice if your inclined to do more chopping and camping related chores. You can clear light brush with a CAK if the need arises but you can also chop firewood with a Sirupati or light blade if that need arises as well.
