Looking for opinions on whether the Leuku or Khukuri would be the best blade to team up with a Mora or Puukko. Just wondering what the advantages of each would be. I have Khukuri's but haven't purchased a Leuku yet.

kukris are more powerhouse choppers than leukus...

if i were deciding between the two combos you offered, i think i would tend towards the kukri and puukko to cover the widest range of tasks in the woods.

i've got a thing for leukus personally. a leuku and a puukko is a hard combo to beat in my opinion. however, a khukuri packs quite a bit more chopping power than a leuku, as a leuku isnt really meant for alot of chopping, even though it will chop just fine. typically a leuku is going to be much lighter too.

oh, and if you do opt for the leuku, make sure to get a 9''. the 7'' models are nice, but if you are going to need to be chopping, the 9'' will get the job done much better.

I really like those Leuku/puukko sets. I was thinking that the Leuku might lean more toward the 12" machete compromise. I know that the Leuku is probably lighter but I never notice the weight much with my 15" Khuks on my belt. However, I've never gone on any really long trips. I think probably the most chopping that I would do would be to make some basic survival shelters.
