Khukuri saves a dear friends life !!

Should have clipped some shoulder bone of the assailant- could've used if for handle material.

Good for your friend, Brendan. Think it's amazing he had the presence of mind to reverse the Khuk. Kind of a nice thing to do. I wouldn't have. Lot less blood to clean up, tho.

"Hi Brendan.
By now Craig will have told you about my midnight visitor. although I was scared when he came at me with the knife, the khukri is a very reassuring weapon to have in you hand even using the back of the blade. It gave the local police a lot of amusement when they saw it and the one chap went back to the station to get 2 mates. when he came back he said' oom don, wys vir hulle jou sakmes(Pocket knife) when i brought it through the one chap said ' juslik dis n groot sakmes'' Everyone thought that a great joke. love to you and jill don."

Brendan, hate to tell you, but you mistyped a WHOLE bunch of words in that last sentence, but 2.

Hm. I don't know if I would have had the restraint to deliberately not cut.

Incidentally, people, this is Africa. More people die from knives and rocks in Africa than anywhere in the US from all weapons.

Wasn't it in Rwanda a few years back that entire villages were slaughtered by opposing tribes with MACHETES?!? Where were the UN "Peace"keepers then? Pah! 'Til I order that Kuhk (and probably after since this is "street legal") I'll carry my CS Special Forces shovel. Ain't no laws against carrying a shovel! :D (While the 'hood I live in isn't that bad (it ain't that great either), I still want something big for self-defense. A fella in another forum called it my "tactical pooper scooper"!)

I think you're right about the nation, Matt.

I've been known to carry to carry a decent sized hand spade while walking dogs. I mean, one of those little hand spades, with an 8" or so blade, not sharp, but heavy, and pointed. Open carry.

Hey- in most places, picking up after your dog...is THE LAW! And, it's for the children! :D
