Khukuri stands and Sharpeners

I had visitors, phone calls, and have been running behind.

Only harm done is a little misunderstanding and in keeping with the high path we all seem to take of this forum everything seems to have been worked out and looks just fine to me.

Great guys make a great forum.

Bob,we are receptive to anything that you have to say,and you don`t have to do it through Bill.That has never been the way things worked here.Say what you have to say.Save the BS for the bar,unless, of course,you achieve my elder status and can make arcane references.What I am objecting to is crass commercialism.I said that the stands were good quality.I just don`t care much for poor white trash,unless they are friends of mine.

Welcome to the Himalayan Imports forum.
I found nothing offensive in your posts.
Thanks for the information about the stands.
As far as the flame posts, last week they were bashing the sanctity of someone's religion, this week it was your turn, I am probably next, but "frankly my dear, I don't give a damn." It takes all kinds.
IMHO, disregard the jabber-wocky and there is plenty to learn here. Great people, good advice and a wonderful forum.
Nice to see new forumites posting, sorry I did not post this earlier.
Do you own a khukuri yet?
Jim

What? Another knife? Don't you have enough of those things already?
How many does one person need?
And just what are you going to do with this one that you can't do with the others?
What is the purpose of all these knives anyhow??

Since we are all different naturally we hold different viewpoints and opinions. The main thing is we hold to the high road and offer respect and consideration to all who may not hold opinions and viewpoints that do not coincide exactly with our own.

That's how we try to do it here and I think with pretty good success.

As I often say, great guys make a great forum.

Big Bob,
I saw nothing wrong with your post.
You were bushwacked. then told that
it was your own fault.

Is that 45 caliber, 70 grains of black powder?
If so, my grandfather shot many a deer in the coastal mountains of Oregon with one.
He said it was a good brush gun, limbs didn't bother that 45 cal slug much.

Bob, you may have come across a little too strong for some folks, but welcome! Your enthusiasm should not be held against you -- after all, your intentions were good -- and appreciated.

GoneSailing,
I'm not rustic enough for the blackpowder.
But the big slug moves through light brush pretty well.

.45 70 500,or 405.I remember it.That was G.I.There were also .45 90 500;up to .45 110.That would set you back.

It is true that we all have different viewpoints. This is why I believe that we should leave the judging and reprimanding to Bill, Yangdu, and Pala. They are the ones who originally designed this forum. They are the ones who made the rules. I personally believe that if one makes a mistake on this forum, that one or more of our moderators should be the one to point it out. I may suggest to an erring forumite that he or she may have made a mistake, but I would leave it up to Bill to make the final decision. The Gurkha policies and views are alien to many of our own. Bill sometimes has a misunderstanding with their ways himself, a good thing he has two of them to confer with. It would be unrealistic to try to understand them completely on our own.

We may disagree with how Bill or his relatives handle certain situations, but I have complete faith in their decisions as fair and just. If Bill can gracefully handle a true troll (the one last November), he can take care of a forumite who meant well but typed in a wrong series of letters. If it doesn't bother Bill or our Nepalese friends, it shouldn't bother us, and we shouldn't assume the role of judge, no matter how many posts we have made. Trying to personally judge and denounce another forumite will breed unneccessary resentment.

Sorry Bill, you made the rules, I expect you to have the final say. I have absolute faith in your judgement.

P.S. GONESAILING, I have a 16.5" inch WWII, nicknamed "Thulo Rato" (Big Red).

Actually,this forum has been self policing.So far,it has worked fine.

Evidently Big Bob was just making a public announcement,not trying to sell anything.Interesting style though.

A special transmssion outside the scriptures;
No dependence on words and letters;
Direct pointing to the mind;
Seeing into ones own nature and realizing buddhahood.
There was a disciple who wrote to a master
across the river "I have finally transcended
the eight winds and found enlightenment!" to which the master replied "Fart, Fart!". Upon
recieving the reply the disciple was incensed
and went to vent at the master. The master replied to the student "you say you have transcended the eight winds yet two little farts blow you clear across the river!" At
which the student, and I, realize we have a way to go.

Ah, Zensho - we all need to learn.

On the other hand, or maybe on the third hand, if one really wishes to learn, he should mentor another. It's downright amazing what a student can teach you, and how quickly and thoroughly.

Would argue with a signpost.

In lieu of a student, a jackass or a mirror will usually suffice.
